NESBA Rain policy

Hi ,
I'm confused about NESBA rain policy. The manual says the credit is issued if "no one gets to ride" . That seems a bit arbitary. If some rookie decides to show up , does it mean everybody gets screwed for not coming along ?
In other words, is there a classical example/definition of a no show event ? May be an announcement of some sort ?

Thanks !

Yea it’s a great policy only if it happens to be pouring before anyone hits the track. I’m sure it’s paid off at least a couple times for some here, but if one tire touches the track then it’s you get nothing I believe. Still better than nothing.

From the NESBA website:

11) What is NESBA’s rain policy?
If we do not roll a wheel on the track and the event is canceled due to rain, you will receive 100% credit to be used at another NESBA event. Rain credit is only good for one calendar year from the time of the cancellation. NESBA may ride in the rain. If we get rained out after an event has started, there will be NO credits or refunds issued. If you choose not to show up and we ride, you will not receive any credit. If you choose not to show up and we cancel the event, you will receive a 100% credit for another NESBA event, to be used within one calendar year. NESBA reserves the right to adjust this policy anytime without notice.

The Rain Credit is a nice feature and was issued to everyone at Autobahn at the end of last year, for example. This is of course, very expensive for NESBA to provide us.

I tend not to sign up until 24 - 48 hrs prior because of this.

In recent years this worked pretty well, but Intermediate has gotten so full at the midwest dates lately that I'm having trouble getting in last minute.

You are absolutely correct. I have not been out this year yet but was consistently running front of I group the few dates I made last year. I suspect if I can hit BHF this month, Autobahn in August, & a few dates in Sept. that A will be in the cards somewhere along the line.

The decision is made by the NESBA staff, based on safety. The amount of rain currently falling, standing water on the track, forecast for further rain, available runoff area at the specific track, etc. play into the decision.

A little note about the rain policy:

In 2004, at the (dearly departed) Thanksgiving Road Atlanta date, the skys opened up after the first session (which was run 100% dry) and continued to rain for the rest of the day. The track was deemed not ridable, presumably because of the amount of rain in conjunction with big walls close to the track.

NESBA issued everyone a 75% refund. This was an on-the-fly adjustment to the policy that acted in favor of the riders!!!

Moral of the story - NESBA is pretty good with thier rain policy. They stand behind the spirit and intent of the policy rather than the letter of the law, or simply using it as a n empty marketing tool.

Last time I checked NESBA Midwest issued over $50,000 worth of rain policy credits. Well over $250,000 nation wide. Quarter of a million. That's a fact. Nothing is perfect and I do the best I can with what Mother Nature gives me. If I could control the weather I would. Hope to see you at the next track day.
