Found an SV

With the following mods:

2001 SV650S for sale race/track bike.
-Clean title
-Ohlins shock
-Racetech forks
-GSXR race bodywork/Sharkskinz but not sure
-M4 exhaust
-BMC air filter, tank spacers
-Woodcraft rearsets
-Woodcraft clip-ons
-Steel braided lines, front and rear
-520 conversion
-Pirelli tires decent shape
-Tiresox tirewarmers
-Scotts steering dampener
-most stock bodywork
-extra set of wheels with Dunlop rains.
-suspension setup for 175lb rider

He says he bought the bike off a race team who used it as their backup bike. He's only done a few trackdays. $3500 for everything sound good? I'll be picking it up sunday The bike is located in ohio, does it look familiar to anyone?

There are about a dozen red/silver repainted SVs out there The BMC air filter is NOT SS legal. If you want to race SS, pick up an OEM filter for about $20. It'd suck to come in first and lose it at tech.

The deal sounds good. Offload the stock bodywork on Ebay for a few hundred (if you are lucky). The extras make the deal better. Plan on redoing the forks just in case, it's probably set up for him, which might not work for you.

BMC filter is SS legal. As long as it is not the race one. If it is a stock whle BMC you are fine. I had it on my SV and I actually still have it in my parts box.

You should be fine with the suspension. I would ask him how many miles on the bike and how many tack miles. Also ask him exactly what was done with the forks. Was it springs and emulators or just emulators. If it was a back up bike it should be set up with everything so you should be good. First thing I would do in the off season is send the forks to Thermosman and have him go through them and check them out. It doesn't hurt to have fresh oil in them. As a matter of fact I will see him when I go down to Jennings in Oct. so if you want me to take the forks down with me I can have him do it for you. Unless you want to do a 3 day track day with me for cheap on the 8,9,and 10th of Oct. only a total of 25 riders total for the day

Take your time listening to the motor. Check the oil before you start the machine to see where he keeps it at. It should be at the full mark or past midway in the site window. Listen for cam chain noise and listen for any kind of knock. If he ever let the oil get low on the bike you can starve a cylinder of oil under hard braking or hard excelleration. Listen for smooth running. Let the bike idle and get all the way up to temp. When I say all the way up to temp I mean wait until the fan kicks on. 3500 is an average price. If you waited you could find one for cheeper. Did you see my post last night for the one for 2300?

What do the internet and Channel 11 have in common? They are both a window to the world; put it out there and do not be surprised who will see it.

She doesn't know what she wants to do yet. Hasn't sold... she may sell it in spring and find a nice gsxr750 for track/street duty. She doesn't plan on racing (yet at least lol).

Be sure to ask for any spares also. Levers, bars, filters, manuals, brake pads. Well you get the point anything you can get will help. Sounds like a fair price and as stated before you can sell stock bodywork for a little extra cash. Good luck. Trackday a BHF on the 2nd and 3rd?

nope not yet LOL

I actually found an '04 with less overall and track miles (only 2 trackdays). All the race mods are only 2 track days old too. Completely setup for my weight, dyno tuned bla bla bla. With a baxley wheel chock for 4200.
