Yea that does sound kick ass, but I have to work at Autobahn that weekend. Bring the kids with man. How old are they? Kids love this kind of stuff. Just come out for Sunday for a few races thats what I'm doing.

Kids are 4 and 7, and they've loved the times I've taken them with me to Blackhawk this year. With time constraints, I'd only be able to race Saturday so it's not as feasible, besides if I do too many more races I'll be bumped to expert next season. Last double pts weekend at AB I racked up 126 pts and if I do next weekend too...

HA HA!!! I'm running Expert next year for sure. I've never racked up enough points but I get the "Sandbagger" comment too many times in the pits.

Is the limit 400 points to be bumped to expert? Is that pure points or adjusted points? I've got 527 points, adjusted to 283 with the performance index (WTF is this anyways, how does it get calculated??). They better not bump me up to expert just based on points because I run a lot of races, I'm still a midpack AM...

BTW Nick, you get my PM about those passes?

I only got to do a few weekends for my first season. Next year I want to do all the BHF weekends, maybe a few more tracks, and get some more wood, then go expert after the year's over. With Curt, Marshall, and Chris probably going expert the am field should be fun next year.

it's just pure points, but you can petition to stay Am once. The adjusted points is your index/1000 * your points. It gives an indication of how you placed relative to class size for overall comparison.

i think they changed it to 400 now so it's pretty easy to get bumped to expert.

It was 500 points then they changed it to 750 and now its 400 but you score less points per race. I never had enough points to turn expert either as I only run 1 or 2 races a weekend so I had to petition to go expert.

Jon, you can petition to remain an amateur once.

Aragh, I'm going to make sure I don't run enough races next year to get bumped to Expert unless I think I'm fast enough.

The 400 pt rule for a class with as few riders as LWT is crazy, I could theoretically run 5 rounds, 6 races per round and finish 10th (nearly last) in every race and still have enough points for expert.

Jon... Although speed is a factor but the most obvious difference between and expert and an amateur is the experience. Don't worry about your speed. You can turn expert and still have people to race with.

Hey guys, I got a slight interest in amateur racing, and would like to know why is it that going to expert affects your tire contingency?

Is it just that running top of the field in Amateur gets your tires, but if you get bumped to Expert and run poorly, you'll get none?...

I don't see why you guys don't get bumped up??? If it is cont. money that is crazy. How much did you make this year on cont.????? Take the fuckin bump and be done with it. That is the only way you will get faster. Shit my first season of racing I shattered my hip and fractured 3 vert. in my second race weekend and was in a wheelchair for 6 months. I raced the end of that season for a couple of races and still had enough points to go expert. Also I took 2 years off in 03/04 during my divorce and had a chance to go ametuer but didn't. Just take the bump you will be glad you did.
