Ah racing! You gotta love the humility it imposes.

I had three races scheduled and didn't even make it through the first race. After being gridded on the front row of the Novice Heavyweight Solo 20 I jumped the start and had to undergo a stop and go penalty. When I was let out of the pit I ran down the last two riders and passed them. But, trying to make up too much ground, too quickly, I lowsided in turn one, ending my day and weekend. My simple lowside crash dented my tank, frame, and twisted my subframe. Unfortunately I thought it better to relinquish the remaining weekend than to try making hasty repairs and failing tech or being out on a bike that sapped my confidence.

Well, out of five races, I've jumped twice, run out of gas, and wheelied off the line three times. I knew this wasn't gonna be easy but, man, this is crazy.

"For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Here is a glutton and a drunkard..."

The first turn is the worst turn, between the left ear and the right one.

I did pull a mondo wheelie coming over the jump but, I haven't seen any pics of it. It was on Saturday morning so I doubt anyone was taking pics that early.

Those pics look badass, but isn't that a bit hard on the bikes suspension, frame, and oil pan?

Better luck next time, maybe if you get the pre-race jitters too much and it causes you to jump start you could try starting from the back next time. No real pressure to get a great start and no worries about getting run over by people behind you. Plus, it's fun chasing down people instead of just getting passed the whole race, did wonders for my confidence my first few races

I'm finally getting my starts down... well kinda. I'm starting from the second or third row, and getting to third or fourth place by T1, 3 out of 4 races last race weekend. I don't launch until i see the flag move, I know one of the GT races the flag waved while the 1 minute board was still up and down so that screwed a number of people. Other than that, I'm basically laying on the tank in first with the revs at 5 or 6 grand, dump the clutch and hang on for the wheelie, kick up to second as soon as possible and aim for the inside of T1. It is discouraging getting passed sometimes though. Last year I always seemed to start from the back and work my way through the pack, but in my first race weekend I'm already hitting my best times from last year so following faster people does seem to help.
