Road America

I can't wait to ride it! It's gonna be SICK! All I've done is the parade lap at the AMA races.

That is all.

Yes, it's true, RA is the SHIT!

Life has no instruction manual. Parts and labor can be impossible to find. Many go down the road with parts that are in need of service. A breakdown is eventual.

I feel bad for the pros, hitting a cicada @ 180mph can't be too fun.

By way of comparison, listen to how quickly Pridmore gets his downshifts done while setting up for the the corners
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...03240086&hl=en

versus

How "us mortals" do it (as represented in the video's Tom posted).

This is an area that I know I need to work on, so it really stood out to me when watching the various videos.

Pridmore teaches that at his school.......

Mike ( the video Rider ) is not a student ( that I am aware of ) of Pridmores.

Mike brakes quite late and hard as you can see in the video.... it costs him.
Fast in, slow out, I waste him off most corners.... not because it's a 750 vs 600
but because he is so busy getting slowed and turned he can't open the throttle forever.

I try to get my downshifts done early and quickly...

Onboard with me here..... not as good as Jason but... working on it.

Yup ...... been there done that.

My first ever time on the track.

CLASS Riding School at Road America on a 1997 GSXR750

Decided that I had gone to the track to go fast .....so I did.

Got the bike up to 150+ down the straight ..... At that time I was
maybe carrying 35-40 MPH at the apex of turn 5 so I needed to lose
well over 100 MPH on the brakes and had no reference points or confidence.

I scared myself so bad on the brakes my right hand shook off the bar
( and therefore the brake )..... I terrified myself. The only thing
that kept me from crashing was the huge paved runoff at turn 5.

I decided then and there that I wasn't really there to go fast....
I was there to have fun, learn to ride and not hurt myself.

So I did that..... I concentrated on smoothness, learning the track,
learning to ride the bike.....and I still do that to this day after
10 years of avid track riding.

Oh yeah... It's still fun !

Awesome, I am so stoked for Road America

Thanx for the videos. Rachel, I'm with you, all I've done is the parade laps during the AMA race but surprisingly I still seem to remember a lot of the track... can't wait!

I'm not up to speed, but what's the camping situation? Can we camp track side? How much is it for a night? I'll be heading up Sunday afternoon.
