My first track day at Grattan!!!

OK….well as some of you know I did my first track day 2 weeks ago…up at Grattan. All in all it rocked!!!! Besides the hurricane winds, quarter sized hail, it downpouring, tent getting demolished and the EZ up getting demolished… :lmao We can laugh about it now.....but while we were there

But anyway….I was initially signed up for Sunday but at the last minute was able to get in Saturday's sessions….glad I did cuz it was raining on Sunday and we didn't ride….

Anyway…..so I'm nervous and excited at the same time……get ready to go out for our first session…I started in group 6 in Novice and Meech was our coach. So we go out…I'm last (of course)….I start freaking out after the first few turns…..cuz they are all almost BLIND!! And we all know how I am in turns….this is specifically why I wanted to do a few track days….just get better in my turns without all the distractions that we have on the street. So to continue…I drop behind a bit….just trying to relax and I get behind this guy who I thought was part of my group…he was slower than me (if you can imagine that ) and he started in Group 4 …..anyway…so I drop further behind….Meech drops back to get me and we finish out the session.

I come off track…and yeah I was a sissy little girl…I had tears in my eyes (no shit talking!!!!) I was like…I'm done…I'm not riding this track…r u nutz!!!! Meech got me some one on one coaching and after the 2nd session I felt 98% better. Being right behind the coach made a world of a difference.

So by the end of the day…I was rocking…and feeling really comfortable in most of the turns. LOVED turn 3 and the S curves…hated the bus stop!!!

Also…I'm addicted….can't wait to do another track day!!!!!!

Thanks Meech and Terra for taking me to my first track day….hopefully next time the weather is on our side!!!!

Here are some pics….split second photo was there….I have no idea when these were taken…but by the end of the day I thought I was doing pretty good…with leaning and stuff…then I see the pictures :lmao :lmao :lmao

Anyway….be gentle

yeah I am laughing at all the "mishaps" that occurred that weekend now. I for sure thought a tornado was coming once the wind and hail set in. It was INSANE. I wanted to freak out so bad but my dog was left in my truck in the valley so I had to put my brave face on and run and get her…trust me, it wasn't funny at the time (those who know me know I am PETRIFIED of tornados!) And this was right after I had gotten out of the shower LOL I come out of the bathroom to chaos, get soaking wet all over again (after I had changed into my nice clean and dry clothes). But at least it didn’t start till AFTER the last session of the day and we got a kick ass hotel for a dam good price

Good job Shelly

Is this track monsoon season or something? Almost every track day has been rained out! WTF?

Shelly -- I can't believe your friend ordered MX boots.

You'll like the other tracks much better. My wuss ass doesn't even sign up for Grattan because I'm STILL traumatized by my first track day there.

That is awesome Shelly! Congrats!

Wow... Grattan for a first track, that is kinda pushing it. The good news is that almost anywhere else that you can go, you'll find far easier and faster to pick up. Way to hang in there!

Bike looks great, so do you. Hope we get a chance to ride together as you start doing some more track days.

Best of luck with it!
