Injured rider at BHF on Monday

This past Monday I was at BHF doing a trackday with them. One of the riders, all I know is her name is Jen, was involved in a crash that resulted her in being airlifted from the track.

I only know this person from seeing her at the track with different orgs. I know she is a control rider with another track organization and she is a registered CCS racer.

According to another forum, no one is releasing any information right now about her condition at the request of family and close friends; but things are not on the more positive side of the scale .

I just thought I would pass this information on in case others that know her were not aware of this.

I hope all turns out well.

Given that BHF is kind of our home track.....

Could someone shed some light on where / how she crashed ?
Don't want the gory details... more of wanting to learn from her misfortune.

Yeah Noel is right, she is an instructor for PTT. I also remember her telling us that she worked as an instructor for one of the riding schools in chicago. Just a very experienced rider.

This is terrible news

I attempted to follow her for a while at a BHF trackday last year...she is fast! She also rode a KTM motard on the track as well.

I will pray she pulls through this.

This is one eye-witness story and one other account from someone along the rear fence line. The accident occured in the long left hander after the bus stop at the rear track entrance.

"...I witnessed the crash ... she hit nothing except dirt. had the bike slowed down to about 45-50 mph & knew there was something wrong with the bike since just a second or 2 earlier it had made a noise almost like the rear tire locked up for just a second."

"...that it was a lowside that went into the grass wheels first, tires caught, and gave a very abrupt highside, whipping her toward the ground..."

The person I spoke with immediately following the incident said she had not time or chance to let go of the bars. As the bike went into the slide and then high-sided, she held on the entire time and flung her directly to the ground.

Still no other information except for doctors waiting for some swelling to go down to determine further injury(ies).

Well... Here is the latest from the people at PTT:

Hey Guys,

The following is being posted on behalf of Dave Ruocco and the PTT family:

As many of you are aware, this past Monday, Jen Maxwell, one of PTT's coaches was seriously injured while at Blackhawk Farms Raceway. Jen was airlifted to Rockford's level one trauma center where she was immediately sent to surgery to alleviate pressure on her brain due to a skull fracture and
bleeding / swelling.

As of today, she is in stable condition in the ICU. However, due to the nature of her injury it will be some time before we have any solid information about her recovery. Until the swelling in her head goes down, we will not know the extent of her injuries and what, if any, lasting effects there may be.

At this time, Jen's family has requested that we refrain from sending cards, flowers, etc. until she is further along in her recovery.

We know that Jen has many friends, and we ask you to keep her in your thoughts and prayers. As we find out more information, we will keep you updated and will let you know where to send cards when the time is appropriate.

Thank you,
Dave Ruocco and the PTT staff.

Dean
