1st Track Weekend!!!

I rode at the Autobahn this weekend and had a blast. The very first thing I must admit before my first session I just wanted to go fast! Saturday was the North track/course and after my first session I changed my mind! Not saying I still donít want to go fast but I need a higher skill level before I can do that and I want to do it (go fast) the correct way (not the Kamikaze way). The first session as Iím sure everyone knows is pretty much the slowest. So after falling back a little ways (in the 1st session ) a coach was sent out to work with me. To my surprise it was Truckstop! So I made up the 7th group . But I have to admit by the end of the day there was much improvement on my part! Much improvement! Saturdayís last session was a total BLAST!!! Thanks Truckstop (for everything this weekend) !!!
Sunday the south track/course was open. This is supposed to be a better track for the type of bike I have due to longer straights (so Iím told). Sunday started off very slow. I was again in-group 6 and I noticed that Sunday the group was very slow. I thought for a minute maybe I have improved but there was someone in the group really slowing us down (so much for that great improvement I thought I had made). The group coach (Troy) made some adjustments with other coaches and our group was moving a bit quicker then before lunch. The south track/course, which is supposed to be better with my bike, seemed to be more intimidating regarding corner entry speed for me. I didnít sign up for today (the full course) but I went and observed (already addicted). The south track did have quite a few bumps (in turn 6 I believe) on it, in some turns that were a little unnerving (for me anyways). All and all I learned a heck of a lot and have so much more to learn. Canít wait until my next track day!

Congrats on having great days at the track and loving the experience.
Too bad it's so late in the season. On the flip side, you won't have to spend some much on other days like all the track addicts do once they get bitten by the bug

Saturday, the pace was much quicker than I expected for Novice. Which might explain why there were so many crashes that day. There were 14 first timers in novice so that also played a major role. I think I counted 5 crashes alone in the novice group. And a few people in novice ran off the track. I just wish more new people concentrated on being smooth instead of being fast. I saw one or two riders in group 5 dragging knee at turn 2. It was a fast group.

I started out in group 2 and kept up but soon found myself in an ass puckering moment which robbed all my courage away. I immediately asked to be bumped into a lower group. At one point after being frustrated I even asked to be put in group 7. Thank God Truckstop wouldn't let me in.

It took over half of the day of me putt putting around the track, some suspension adjustments and one on one CR coaching for me to get back into the correct mindset.

Soon I found myself riding much faster and smoother. My CR said he noticed a night and day difference in my riding. It goes to show you it's not how many laps you do but how many you do correctly. At one point my buddy said I lapped RatedR and Deefib 6 times in one session. Sorry had to rub it in.

I still need to practice my foot placement because instead of dragging knee, I kept on dragging toe. At least all my chicken strips are gone.

I was in group 5 most of the time I think. By the end of the day I was very comfortable with group 5's pace. My CR friend took me out one on one and with him towing me around he said I could do group 4's pace. I didn't want to push myself though as my goal for the day was to be smooth and come home in one piece.

[edit] Oops I was only there on Saturday.

I asked and was approved to ride in group 3 but my CR friend pulled me aside for some one on one training. Never got to ride in group 3. I was the one talking to the group 3 CR about my lack of confidence. I then asked to be put in group 5.

When i crashed on the north course couple of weeks ago, it was hard for me yesterday. I was scarred to get off the bike and lean it. But after the two first sessions i got my confidence back, and kicked ass.

Holy Cow 6 times!!! My last session (which was the next to last one) was AWESOME as FUCK!!! Truckstop turned it up a notch and the adrenaline was really going that time. Unfortunately with being slower you do get lapped and you have to slow down and wait for the other groups to pass, well that takes a real toll on your legs! So I was really hurting towards the end of the day and wasn't so sure how focused I would be on keeping good lines for the last session (didn't want to chance it). But she was my white rabbit my last session I wish I would have had myself together earlier that day and ran more sessions like my last one Saturday!!

*Note to self don't stop working out for a 2-3 month period before going to the track your body will hate you for it.

Yeah I know how that feels. I had one ass puckering moment early on and I rode like a grandma for a few sessions. My buddies wanted to tape my bike pink. I even skipped a few sessions because I was not in the right mind set.

The only thing I saw was my CR and the track in front of me. For the first time I was smiling in my helmet instead of being scared out of my mind.

Too bad I dragged toe a few times instead of dragging knee. Need to work on my foot placement still.

Sometimes you just have to say "fuck it" and get down and dirty and lean that bike as hard as you can in that corner.

I was there on sat. started in group 5 since I have never done a track day with them and haven't been to the autobahn. After lunch I got moved up in to group 3 and was told along with the rest in 3 we could be intermediate. I loved turn two I was prob the one that maoisn saw getting my knee down in two. I did a track day last year with visionsports race school but that was my only track day that I have had. I was a lot happier with group three's pace and felt pretty good but am in no hurry to move up in to intermediate still have a lot more things to learn from instructors. I did manage to get my knee down in all turns but turn 1.

I know I heard them say on the PA that the photographer for Sunday and Monday doesn't post them online so you had to get them there. I don't know how true that is but someone might know where you can find them.
