Track in Indiana??

My boss is trying to tell me of a road course in Northern Indiana that is close to the lake. Any ideas on what track this may be?

People take these things too seriously!

http://www.trackpedia.com is your friend.

The nearest track I know of for bikes in Indiana is Putnam Park. AWESOME track!

Putnam is amazing. Although there is a track in planning for the Merrillville area. I'm not holding my breath on that one though.

If it goes through it will be between I-65 and us-41 in the Lake Village area. About a half hour south of the I-95/I-64 interchange.

I haven't heard any recent updates but in their press releases it says the signed some fairly decent names in the sports car world to some sort of deal. It's good to see they are still spending money.

I love gingerman, I just don't like all the new rules the new mgmt keeps coming up with every year for the sports car guys. Don't know if they have done that to the bikes?

Awesome track though. Very fun.

Just for shits and giggles what are some typical lap times you guys see on bikes there?

I was running mod to low 1:40s in a completely stock, street tired rx8 last year. I should be 10-20 seconds faster next year, which is scary to think about.

Yea, I was probably pulling a smoooth 2:15

The seams in the track pull my front and I have no idea how the heck to combat that.... other then going slow.

So yea, no fun for me.

I'll let the rest of you take up the available time on that one. Id rather go to Grattan if Im going to Michigan.

I hear Grattan is fantastic but needs a resurfacing? I wanted to get there this year but ran into a few things that cut me off at the knees on doing track events.

I've heard some of the guys I drive with complain about their cars getting pulled by ruts, etc at Gingerman but I've never had that problem and I drive much more aggressively than most of the guys I go with.

To close to Autobahn?
I had considered a membership to Autobahn when it was new (when it was 10k).. but even then.. 3 (used to be 4 i thought) thousand a year pays for a lot of track days...
Now that it's 35k... No way I'd do it.. Unless I just came upon enough money that I really didn't care about money at all anymore... Then hell.. Maybe I'd just make my own track like Wilzgig was doing (wonder if he ever finished that.. Remember him talking about it years ago)

Honestly I am not at liberty discuss specifics regarding financials.

However I can tell you that the property (known as Mud Lake) was three to four feet UNDER WATER from June 18 to June 26... being the lowest point in the county and no matter where they pumped water it would come back... not a good choice for non-marine applications I'm thinking and certainly something that would have to be disclosed to investors and/or lenders.

Is it Lake or Newton we are talking... If it's Newton.. Can't be the lowest point.. My buddies house in Sumava is the lowest point.. Well.. up until it was jacked up on 2x4's

I let goldfish go in his yard once.. and they survived at least the whole [email protected]

just kinda??

I'm sure it was planned there because real estate is so so so so so cheap. There is NOTHING around and no demand for land.

Well.. There is a moratorium on building (houses at least) in most of those areas due to flooding...

Not sure about race tracks.. cant imagine the govt cares if a bunch of people want to build a track that floods.. They aren't going to get called in to pay to fix it when it floods.. where when hundreds of peoples houses flood it becomes a financial problem...

So while the govt might not care... The banks might...

I remember there was a CEO from a chicago company who had a little airstrip and a big garage.. right off 41.. he would hop in his little plane.. fly to meigs... and go to the office from there.. think he only went in a couple days a week.. seems like a nice commute to me..

The 1 hour from chicago.. thats kinda bs.. maybe by plane

St John is pretty much an hour from chicago downtown... and thats 30 min North of this place.. Maybe they were being "correct" 1 hour from Chicago.. the Chicago border in hegewisch that is

Sorry.. Just got back in the loop. Bonnie and I took our first summer vacation in eight years!

Regarding the question... I know this sounds like a blow-off but we usually execute non-disclosure agreements when entering into any type of role with a facility and this precludes me from discusing/disclosing most particulars.

The site of the proposed PH facility and the floodwaters there are both public knowledge.
