Cool Post Blackhawk Farms 9.24.08

So my jaw hurts from laughing so much.....I don't think I ever laughed this hard in my life...from the time we go there at about 11:30pm Tuesday night till we got home last night I was constantly laughing. Awesome group of people!!!!

Anyway thanks Tea for trailering my bike up there...glad we got to ride together too.

It got a bit cold Tuesday night sleeping in the trailer so Tea and I cuddled (just for you flounder)

Then Casper and the other guys are up at the ass crack of dawn being all loud

Anyway....AWESOME day. I was a bit nervous in the morning cuz I haven't ridden this track yet....and it's been over a month since I've been to the track.... You get so comfortable when you are a regular on a specific track, I can do Autobahn in my sleep now

But the CR's were awesome...Jen (truckstop) towed me around and showed me the lines in the first session....you rock girl!!! Then Scotty worked with me a lot....I know I need to go faster...and Tommygunn (yes I'll twist the throttle more eventually) , Brian (Wink), Kurt.....all of you guys were awesome....without you it wouldn't have been as much fun!

I got a set of take-offs from Dean (THANK YOU!!) Super Corsa's....and LOVED them...very sticky once I started having fun out there!!!

Dean and Tea got the bump to A so I didn't have anyone to chase but CONGRATS to the both of you!!!!

Nice meeting you Stkr! Your grandson was ADORABLE!!! He was like Do you ride a bike....lol

I did get to see my first crash.....right in front of me. Right before turn 1...guy was trying to pass me on the inside...no idea what happened but he lowsided...started sliding across the track in front of me and I'm like ok...turn your head and fnish the turn....but don't run him over Luckily for him it was the last session of the day and he was fine...but the bike, not so much

But I will be going back to Blackhawk next year....I can see me having some REAL fun out there after a few more times!!!

You looked good out there Evil. Snuggling huh..... oh boy.

Anyway, I had a good day. It did not start out good the day before since the amby broke down on me on the way to work. Thanks to EvilTwin and Supergirl for helping me out with phone calls and transportation alternatives. Ended up with a single rail trailer pulling it with the Honda. Wow - what a difference.

I want to say thanks to Blume, Wink, MattG, TGunn and Wally for the tips - always appreciated. Oh, and thanks MattG for waving as you went passed and Wally for the sticker Still laugh when I look at it. I ended up in the 24's with a possible 23 or high 22 based on other rider's timers that I was with. Regardless of the times, I was happy enough with my riding and lord knows I still have soooooooooooo much more to work on. Although taking my personal best by more than 5 seconds since the last time out, it is work and I need to continue to work at it more and more.

And best of all, seeing Jim Meigs back out there after his ailment. Way to go Jim and very good to see you back out there - always in good spirits

That was an awesome day to say the least

Moving up to the A group was nice. I was able to push myself by following those that passed me, and I got back down to the 24's I used to run, and like Dean, I finally got into the 22's a few times, but don't know how I survived it Thanks for the tow

I wish I could have done more socializing, but Austin (grandson) was just too excited about his first track day. He didn't slow down all day. He was always watching by T-4/5 and every time I came back to the pits, he would tell me "Good Job Leaning!". The daughter got some good shots from there, so I'll post up a few when I get home tonight.

Here's a picture of Austin only 10 minutes after leaving the track. He tried waking up once, and his eyes were glazed over, and looked like he was either trashed or stoned. During one of his attempts at waking up, he said "I had a lot of fun today" and then passed out again. He did finally manage to wake up long enough to eat the cheeseburger from his happy meal and then passed out again. The track is hard on all of us I guess.

I would also say I had a great time. Eddie from Safety First gave me a full coach day which was priceless. With another CR and I playing he said we where running 17's at the end of the day. Of course in the same breath he said no more Intermediate for you.

Yes the first session out they tried to bump me to A. However thanks to Eddie letting them know we where working on a few things and BHF let me continue in Intermediate which was fantastic as long as I slowed down.

I worked on body position and also how to be in a higher gear and dont use the brakes at all during a session. Thats fun Talk about being smooth.

But at the end Eddie said have fun on the last session and I did. Passed people on the outside and had no problems for most of the day.

But since I was told "No More Intermediate for you" I must say it was fun playing with you guys. Now its time for me to get spanked by the advanced guys.. Be nice

Long live the Blue Dot!!!!

Actually, I think they both passed me coming out of T5 (one outside / one inside)

I'm also waiting patiently for the Gron4 posting

I'm uploading videos.

Jim aka gntbldr followed me for a few laps. Definitely not my best session, but that's even better, so I know what to work on. Videos are sooo helpful!!!

It might take a few minutes until the video is viewable.

I am also uploading a video of Dean, where I tried to follow him. Too bad it was a really short session, due to a crash in T1.

WOW! How did you manage not to get stuck in any traffic? I don't think you guys passed or got passed by anyone till the very end. and that was just 1 rider. Wish all track sessions were that clear of traffic. Nice job keeping up.

We were riding in "A".

I know that I was crowded, but according to Gron4's pictures, A was just as crowded, if not more. Go, figure.

It's sad that that session was so short, but I think they had shortened it for all the groups to make up the time that the crash track was out.

Thanks apexeddie

Yeah, I did hear from some people watching that "A" was as crowded if not more. The difference is that you guys have more experience passing and your passing rules are a little more "open". The same person added that after the first lap all the "A" were pretty much spread out. Our problem in "I" is that not everyone feels as confident passing and when we start backing up it just sets of the accordion affect. Its fun passing a couple of riders but when you have around 7 riders right behind each other the only option is to get off and hope that it clears up when you get back on.

Yeah, exactly! I had signed up for "I" and I hoped it wouldn't be crowded. It was, so they bumped us to A.
Since i am amongst the slowest in A, I actually get a clear track I get passed

It was an awesome day though! I wish we had more this year!!!

Since i am amongst the slowest in A, I actually get a clear track I get passed

It was an awesome day though! I wish we had more this year!!!
Mee too. I like to make the others WORK for their lap times by being a rolling chicane.

I finally got my videos done, and I'll upload them tonight if I can.

Okay...I finally got them uploaded. I tried using YouTube, but they have a stupid 10 minute time limit I forgot about, so none of these will upload. I used Google Video instead I'm too tired to recompile the videos tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

Intermediate Group - Session 2 (Crowded as hell)

For the advanced group videos, I missed recording one of them so I'm guessing on which one is 3 and 5, one of them might be session 4. Either way the date is still correct The raw footage is SOOOO much better quality, but I can't post videos that are 3 GB per session.

Enjoy

Advanced Group - Session 3

Advanced Group - Session 5

Advanced Group - Session 6

The delay at the end of session-5 is where I stopped to give my grandson a ride to the pits. It was only about 1 mph, and I could barely reach the handle bars with him in front of me, but he got a kick out of it.
