Track bike-Insurance auction?

Hey all!

It's been a while since I've posted on here, ever since I'm bikeless .

We'll hopefully not for long. I'm looking to build up a track bike and stay off the streets. I've been reading up on wera and such about picking up a salvage bike from an insurance auction.

Have any of you purchased a bike from an insurance auction? I've found IAA, Insurance Auto Auction (they have locations around chicago), but don't know if it's worth me paying for a "membership" to bid on a machine.

Does anyone on here have any "pull" on getting a salvaged machine from an auction?

Thanks!

I'd just pick up a pre-pimped sv off of one of the boards. Track time is too expensive to be trying to work out bugs. Buy something that already works and ride it.

They can't sell anything with a salvage title to an IL resident, because IL does not allow private parties to hold the titles.

They didn't know or weren't following the Law but they are now at Crashtoys. I have bought from there too in the pass.
