Dani Pedrosa responds to Kevin Schwantz criticism

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sp...ntz-criticism/

Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa has spoken of his disappointment at recent comments attributed to American legend Kevin Schwantz that were critical of the Spaniard and his long-serving manager and mentor Alberto Puig.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

I am glad he threw it back in Kevin's face. Stating that he is coming up on winning as many races as him.

I do agree maybe Kevin needs to shut his mouth once in a while.

Winning Races and Winning a Title are two different things and Dani has arguably been on the Top 2 Bike his entire GP career - I LOVE that Nicky got F'ed (not for Nicky) when Dani was the Wonder Boy and now he is getting F'ed that MM is dong the same to him and Stoner came in and Won on the bike Dani could not - Dani is the Biatchi of GP, great on the 250s but never made "it" on the bigs

Yeah I do agree to a certain point I still think Pedrosa has nothing to be ashamed about. I don't even like pedrosa and I am on his side on this disagreement.

Also We all know how the media likes to blow things out of perporsion (sp).

I wouldn't say MM is f'ing Dani after only 2 races. Let's see where he is after the next 4. MM will not finish on the podium next round in Jerez.

Good point that ..... Dani built a great bike ..... And Stoner whipped him like a horse with it.

MM Might just do the same.

Time for Dani to STFU and get on with it. ..... I actually still feel bad that SImoncelli took him out two years ago ..... that might have been his "shot".

Put it this way my fellow lover of WSBK (ha) when Dani came to HRC w/Nicky, Nicky was on his way to his only title due to consistency and against a strong filed that year - The only thing Dani did that year was take Nicky out and sway R&D to his smaller size as the new golden boy of HRC - Look what MM did in testing and now in (2) rounds - Do you think he will let up? - Do you think he has not already played MASSIVE head games with Dani the way Vale did with Casey? - Pedobot is in for a wold of hurt this season with JL riding the way he does and the rest of the pack right on Dani's heals aka MM, Cal, Vale, Bradle - They can all get in his bonnet and fuck his 5'1 Spanish world UP

I LOVE LAMP!!!!!............................and Joey Dunlop RULES

He's had 8 shots. He's come up short each time. That's racing.

If is a little word with a BIG meaning.

I will be pleasantly shocked if MM93 gets on the podium at Jerez.

I found this interesting

"Also, I am very close to winning the same number of races as him, and that’s with Valentino and 'company' (as he refers to them) on track against me.”

Yes he has raced against Valentino and some other greats. Not sure if these have been Valentino's best years. KS raced against many of the racing greats too. I'm not an expert like some of the folks on this forum but I would think that the fields In KS days were stacked with more talent overall. Maybe I'm wrong in thinking that.

winning championships comes down to how talented the OTHER riders you are competing against are that year. also a good portion of luck. a mechanical or getting taken out one time and that could be your shot gone for that season. pedrosa is a great talent. he has struggled with many injuries, unfortunately his body seems to be his undoing. again at cota he suffered problems with muscle fatigue.

pedrosa can win the championship this year if he has less bad luck than his competitors. several riders are in the same boat. a bunch of spodes discounting him and his accomplishments...laf.

Just so I understand where you are coming from, you think the talent level of a given rider fluctuates from one year to the next?

Don't Bro - He just likes to argue - That statement alone made my head hurt as I just thought back to many a year where the field was deep with talent which had noting to do with the Champ of the year taking it - Tell that to Hayden

I say put up or shut up. If he is on the best bike, which is a great package. I can't stand the man, but at the same time when he is on, he is on.. I just hope he never wins the title, that way Nicky will have one up on him...

He is on when he gets to t1 first and checks out - Rain and Trading Paint while Passing back and Forth have never been his thing on the Bigs - Like I said, he was great on the 250s and the only time I have EVER seen promise out of him where he REALLY fought was at Indy a few years ago when he threw it down, got back up and rode like a guy with a wasp in his helmet - Other than that, they are either check out wins or P2 and P3 finishes - He got spanked by Casey coming to "his team" and even Dovi gave him a good run on the 3rd bike in the pits

Dani is fast but he is not a Big Bike Champion

im just saying that certain years the field is more stacked or there is an ultra dominant rider. take that rider out of the picture and its wide open. basically to sum up my thoughts, certain era's champions arguably had it easier than others.

Yes, some will argue that with Ago and Doohan for example, but they still had to get it done (doing everything that takes) and you have to look at each year very closely. No championship is a gift. They are all earned and they are all deserved. I also think, in general, that this line of thinking tends to take a lot away from the riders and what they accomplish. Like I said before, if is a small word with a BIG meaning.

Point noted and well made.

I'd just to say that comparing Casey to Ped is apples and oranges. Casey is truly a riders champ, that man will take a bike and ride around it's problems. Riders today need to have the bike setup perfect (Val, Dovi, Jorge to name a few) or they are worthless. 500's you never had a perfect bike, you fixed it by twisting the wrist.

Is it that they are worthless or that they are not willing to stick their neck out that far? Roberts (jr) is a good example of that unwillingness. Wayne Rainey is a fair example of what not to do. These guy's want long healthy careers and like Feddie Spencer said (paraphrase), "I want to be able to run and play basketball with my kids when I'm 40."

Even Casey was only willing to stick his neck out so far.

That was kind of my thinking as well. Not only that but no traction control. Those that did well and ran fast in that era seemed to have to master power sliding to keep the gas and R's up around turns. I'm not saying that any era is easy or any season but that era seemed to have a lot of greats running around.
