It's all about the light!

I've been saying this for years, and these guys pull off a great proof of concept.

It really bugs me when people see my photos and I get the "Ohhh, those are pretty photos...you must have a *really* expensive camera!"

Yeah, it just floats there and takes photos all by itself...

But that's a rant for another day. Check out the video:

That is impressive. Had to go to youtube to watch though, the embedded was way too huge.

Awesome work.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Just goes to show to make pictures professional you need to be a professional with equipment. So instead of buying a 2k camera... you need a studio, a few grand in lights, a model, and a finishing studio to fix up your pictures. Sweet!

Edit: oh, and an education on how to use all that lighting.

No shit - it's a pretty cool idea, but unless you already have the lighting investment then you're not going to get anywhere. Plus, if you've already dropped that kinda coin on equipment then you probably have a fairly nice camera already so the point is irrelevant.

On the other hand, they really did turn out nice - especially for being just a camera phone. I really like the last couple shots with the spotlight background. Also, it's really interesting to get even just a little insight into the thought process behind studio lights like that. I never had any clue about that kind of lighting so that was pretty interesting to hear about.

this is such an extreme proof of concept, replace the iphone camera with even a point and shoot and the results would be better.

Uh, the rest of the equipment in video that costs more than a decent SLR. Even the Home Depot lights were $100.

My Iphone couldn't even take decent fireworks photo.
ok for studio with 3k in lights and outside on the nice sunny day, but when gets darker and something moves just put it back in your pocket.

Flying bullet photo - I bet it could take it to. To take photo like that you need sound activated shutter.
