Canon Rebel T3i kit

Going to Alaska in may and looking for a better camera. Right now only have a canon point n shoot. I have been reading this forum and getting any idea of what to start with. Are these kits a good deal or should I by a body only and piece it together. For the trip I don't want to carry to much so would prefer 1 lens. Both the T3i and D5100 are getting good reviews. Actually the Nikon kit doesn't show a lens.

I have the Canon T3i and love it. Tons of features and does a great job on auto if you don't feel like messing around with the settings. The stock lens with the kit takes amazing shots.
