What's the word on Compact System Cameras?

What do you guys think about these cameras?

Basically, I'm looking for near DSLR quality photos from a compact camera.

Worth the $500-600 bucks or is it better to go for a full professional DSLR camera?

Will be using it mostly to shoot parties and outdoor events.

Easy to carry, get one.

If you want a real camera, get one.

If you want both, get both.

Depends on what your expectations are. I'd look into the new Canon EOS-M if you want SLR like quality. The NEX is also an option, but I don't like Sony so I'm biased there.

Had a friend get the nikon,

99.2% of all the pics she took before getting it were blurry.

Since she got the nikon I have only seen one blurry shot so I am impressed on n00b usage of it.

I have not had any hands on time with it so until then I don't have any other input.

Just keep in mind, mirrorless = hardened, smaller sensors so they are not as light absorbing therefore slower or nosier than their larger DSLR counterparts.

The Nikon has great autofocus, that's the one that I own.

Here's some shots with my J1.

Where the camera really suffer's is inside though. The it won't sync with a flash at greater than 1/60 so it's pretty easy to get blurry photos. You end up shooting ISO 3200 1/60 and f/2.8 with the flash inside.
