Looking for new camera help

So I'm looking for a new camera. I'm tired of the point and shoots. So here are some of the main requirements

Price 1k or under.
Can take multiple frames per sec. I'm tired of waiting 5 seconds for each pic

I'd be nice if the camera can be put into and underwater housing.

Pretty simple requests. So who's got suggestions.

I'm not short. I'm aerodynamically efficient.

for what you want, it would be very hard to find one for under 1k.
suggestions i have are the 30d which is all that you want but a bit over 1k. or i belive the digital rebel can do all of that as well and it under 1k but you have to get your own lenses for it which will still bring the price to over 1k. along with the underwater housing which is quite expensive for good cameras. the underwater housings i have seen are close to 500$ if not more.

The underwater housing I would probably get next year. So that's not a big deal . I'd start off with a basic lens and see where it goes from there.

Canon Eos XT, XTi
Nikon D80 (if you can find a used D70/70s go for it).

All under 1000 and usually with a lens also.

Underwater housings are available for all of them, but are very $$$ ($750 and up just for the housing).

Does it have to be an SLR? You can get one of the nice Ultra Zooms which has a fixed lens but is a step up from pocket cameras such as the Panasonic FZ50 or Olympus SP-550.
