I have that lens. I think you'll be happy with it. Sometimes it benefits from from correction for the wide-angle curvature, but otherwise is a great, although very short lens.

I don't remember paying that much for it but it's not chump change!

This is the newer version that just came out. Its meant to compliment the 1D MKIII

The older one is like $1300
