Converting Negatives to Digital

I'll be getting the negatives from my wedding back soon and one thing I would like to do with them is convert them to digital. I really don't want to do it myself as I don't have a quality scanner and really don't have the patience/time to convert them all myself. On top of that, it really isn't cost efficient for me to purchase quality scanner as there are only around 400 negatives (I think). I'd much rather pay for this service.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good place to get this done? The quality of the scanning is my number 1 priority, but obviously cost comes into it as well.

If cost is an object....

Seriously... try a neighborhood kid or someone's kid at work who has a scanner w/ a negative attachment.

Let THEM tell you how much they want for doing it. You might be amazed how little it would cost you but to them is a lot of money

Check at Walgreens/Osco etc... last time I had 35mm ran they had an option to get a cd... I'd assume they can do it straight from negatives too.

Namaste

Cost isn't really an option, so I'd rather not pay someone inexperienced as they negatives are pretty important to me. When I said cost is a factor, I meant I'm not going to pay someone $5 a negative no matter how good their equipment or how long they've been doing it for. I figure in the range of a $350 is where I start to question them.

That was my next step if I can't find anywhere else.

When I took negatives into the computer with my scanner w/ negative tray it was pretty much self explanatory and hard to fuck up. The bitch is the TIME it takes.

Plop the negative on the tray, hit the button and Blamo... done

If you need someone to doctor the photos afterwards, that's a different story.

... just trying to give you more options because this is something most geek kids have the time to do and work for next to nothing (well, maybe a huge bag full of Magic booster packs which will set you back about $40 - $50 bucks.)

I guess if the kids have the equipment, I'm cool with it. I have never done anything like this before as I've always used digital. I just want to get the best quality conversion I can.

I doubt any doctoring of the photos would need to be done afterward, and if it does, I can handle that.

Thanks for the suggestion.
