Wedding Photography Ideas

I need ideas if anyone has any.
For our wedding reception in June, Muskrat and I want a few pictures taken for the reception (ie: first dance, a few shots with wedding party/family). Right now, we arent even having a photographer. I don't want to spend much money, and I've checked with some photography companies who won't do anything less than $1,000.

We dont want a photographer there all night. I just wanted somone for an hour or two to take some shots. I don't like the idea of putting disposables on the table for fear of getting crappy angles and crappy shots.

Any ideas?

Try calling up local colleges that have photography classes and see if you can find a student to do it for cheap. My sister was a photography major at Columbia College and she was always getting asked to do weddings and I think she would only make a few hundred bucks or so. She got experience and she was able to add the pics to her portfolio and the couple got pretty good pics for cheap... win win!

I would love to do it for you, but I dont trust my skills yet enough to do a shoot like that, where it's a one time thing. I screw up and your memories are lost forever, too much stress.

Why not hire ravin to help out

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

my best advice is to keep asking around. set your budget, stick to it....you'll eventually find what you are looking for. Students are also a great resource. I think there are people on the board that attend columbia-- that's a great place to start.

We didn't either we used my brother who had a nice set up and had disposable cameras at each table. I do not think I ever looked at the pictures since they cam back from being developed. I would ask a couple people on here with set ups and dinner and free drinks should cover their services. I would but I suck as a photog.

Sorry did not see you didn't want disposables they do not come out that bad though.

I just went to a wedding on Saturday and they did a very budgeted wedding and they had a photo booth there! It was so cool! Everyone could go in the booth, take some pictures as couples, groups, bride, groom, etc. The cool thing was that the guests get a copy of the pictures right there and the bride and groom get either copies or a CD of every picture taken that night. They also had a photographer as well, but if you could get some one reasonable, this beats the whole disposable camera idea. I don't know the rates yet, as I'm still looking into it for my sister's wedding in May but here is the website....

Yeah, I wonder if LonelyRaven would do a side photography job for ya...he takes great pics!

My gielfriend got married a year ago sept at Wrigley Field just prior to the game. We had 100 seats behind home plate, and a judge in black robe (and Cubs hat) married them. the bridal party all wore our Jersey's!

We have a friend who is a Photographer and she hired him...and he did an amazing job (and was CHEAP). Basically you pay for his time. Everything is digital and he burns Cd's for you, and makes no prints. Then you can pick the prints you want to have made, and we had them done at Walgreens (since the bride and I work in their IT dept) and we assembled her album. It is AWESOME!!! He does incredible candids.

I can get you his # is you want...he can show you his work.

Just snapping pictures is one thing, but having the experience to get the right pose that looks natural and everything is in place, takes some skill.

The downside for a photographer is that if they take a $300 job for just a couple hours on a prime June weekend, then the date is booked and they have to turn down the possible $3000 job. There are only so many prime weekends.

Any idea what the lighting will be like at the reception? If it's dimly lit, make sure whoever shoots has experience and proper equipment to get good shots.

Make a list of the shots you want and give it to the photographer. Make sure to include any particular family members you might want that you don't see often, etc.
