Vcook had his hands tied up with work. not too sure if he's available to post right now. it was a virus on his network, so he might not be in the mood to post up. i think the runner up should post the next theme and then maybe vcook can post a theme later on if he's up to it...

I pass on the choice to the runner up. I am very pleased to have won but I'm far too busy at the moment to work on the next contest theme. Work is kicking my ass and I have to prioritize.

Honestly I thought this would be something easy to come up with but truth be told it is a bit difficult. I have picked a topic but I am not sure if the group will agree.

Photo Contest #3 Topic:

WATER

I prefer to see your best picture that involves interesting composition or creative use of shutter speed. All states of water is acceptable, interesting ice formation, strange steam behavior.

Is that the 1200mm monster that Canon built like 30 units of? I think they made a few for the government if I heard correctly. CIA and other ghost agencies. I think I also read that it can't even focus closer than a 100 yards away or something rediculous like that. Any truth to that stuff?

Ian you need to start a new thread with Morts rules posted. Also I think we should add to the rules that to be submitted it needs to be a new shot taken for this contest.

I would say right after Ian posted the topic, as you had no idea what it was before then. My goal for these contests would be for people to see the topic, interpret it and then go find an image to submit.

Those were my thoughts exactly. I'm hoping we all excercise our skills, especially with more daylight to play with just around the corner! Rather then dragging out old photos (like I did in the past one).

Maybe make an amendment that it's OK to pull out old photos, but *only* for showing off, not for submission to contest? (assuming photos are on topic)

I have an idea for this contest, but I need to learn some new skillz to pull it off. Chicks dig dudes with skillz.

I thought the whole reason the original contests went south, was because people just don't have time to go take new pics each contest. I understand your point Tony, but even though its not riding season, time is still scarce, for some.

By saying new pics only, you just ruled out that awesome one in a million shot, that was take on vacation. The one that is no way able to be duplicated, in a setting.

Whale bubble fishing for instance.

I agree. I'm too busy lately to take any photos, but I shot thousands of exposures last summer and fall. As long as the picture is your own, it shouldn't matter when it was captured.
