Photoshop Question

Ok I have this pic, and I want to take the helicopters out and just change the background to a different color. If I use the wand, it doesn't select the right thing. If I use the eraser, it takes to damn long. Is there another way to go about this.... I tried the hue/saturation thing but still can't get a good selection on it. Just want to change the background. And maybe find a way to select the helicopters so I can change the paint scheme on them.... any one know how I can do this?? Thanks!

Ok that video was cool ... but if you look at the pic... it's a little hard to do it that way. Any other simpler ways?

Go into channels and select the channel with the most contrast - you can also adjust using Curves.

Select Quick Mask and paint around the subject you want to capture, filling all the background. Make sure you are using the Black color.

Once complete, click on Quick Mask again and save the selection.

You can then fine tune using Quick Mask to remove or add more selection area.

This should be pretty quick and very accurate, may be 10 -15 minutes for this job.

is that a picture you took? if so don't take the picture on that busy rug. Take it on a solid color area.

If my calculations are correct, this will create ice... OH NO, KILLER MUSTARD GAS!

Polygonal Lasso tool and a little patience.

You need to go around the outlines. Here's about two minutes work:

Getting the rest will probably take about 10 minutes.
