C&C on Bar Shot

No processing yet on it. I wanted to see if the shot looked pretty decent to others or if it was just me Brought my D80 in to the bar to show a friend of mine some other shots I had just taken with my new Nikkor 17-55 f/2.8 of Hunny. As we sat for a while I noticed these items on the table and just arranged them in the first configuration that came to mind. Didn't want it to look too staged. I didn't
really intend for it to be a drinking and driving theme, but I guess that hints through a little too. Thoughts?

Ahh, picked up the 17-55/2.8 I see. Nice choice. I tried the Nikkor 24-70/2.8 this weekend at Helix, but it was strange to use. Awkwardly long, and felt like I needed VR to get it under control. I never have that issue with my Sigma, but its a shorter lens, so...

Anyways, good choice on the lens. It should provide incredible results.

Regarding the photo, I'm not sure exactly what the subject is. Is it the photo of the old Navy guys? Anyways, theres a bit of background distractions in there as well. Like the key. And are those cigarettes in the background too? I'm just not feeling this one today. But thats okay. Its hard to frame creative photos in a bar. Ive tried, and they never turn out. Something about all the chaos and distractions, and lack of control you have when being in that type of environment.

the luxury car key dosnt quite work with the theme that is dictated by the navy guys being the center of focas, now if it were a navy hat or something related on the bar then maybe converted to B&W with some grain, and a scotch neet instead of that fruity drink, it would be tits.

just or effect, I would also use a cigarette burning in an ashtray in the backround, with a slow shutter speed.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I like it a lot, the lighting is cool. The only thing that does throw me off now really looking at it is the navy men in focus... if it was something else or just black it would be better.

Once you go pro, you never go back!

I like how soft the background can get with that lens.

Real photographers take their cameras everywhere with them. I am not a pro or anything but I always have my camera with me. He just got the new lens and was trying it out.

Yea, I think the concept of the shot is interesting but some changes might be in order. Ahh well, next time. Also maybe going to f/16 would have been better.
