Official Photo Contest #15 - Candid shot

Official Photo Contest #15 - Candid shot

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

R U L E S:- The host gives you a topic of interest and you get going. You post ONE image (only first image by one person will be judged) that is relevant to the challenger theme. You can change your image as many times as you like before the deadline.

- The host chooses a winner *AND* runner-up after closing. The decision of the judge (the Host!) is final. The judge is *not* eligible. The winner then chooses the next topic, tells everyone when the photo's must be posted by (give some reasonable amount of time like a week), runs the challenge, judges the winner and passes on the baton to that person. Winner/Host, please post a reasonable topic that someone who's not a pro photographer can be a part of. Remember it's not just cool shots, but the story that can be told for some.

- If the winner fails to post a new challenge within 48 hours of being declared the winner then the runner-up should post the new challenge within a further 24 hours.

- Any picture you've taken is eligible regardless of time taken and camera it was taken with. You can do all the post processing you want. However, it is most helpful if you list your camera, lens and exposure info along with your photo.

- All levels welcome. If you don't have the best lens or just a plain old pocket camera but your shot tells a wonderful story then there's no reason you can't win! This is about overall photo's and their story, not just about expensive equipment.

- Feel free to comment on other contestant's images. If you want someone to leave you a piece of constructive criticism, ask for it...after all we are here to learn too and practice.

- Provide any additional information concerning your entry you want. Explaining how the shot might relate to the topic could help too.

- Winner/Host, please copy and paste these rules into the topic and thread that you post because some might start doing contests later and miss the first one.

Hopefully I do this right

Official Photo Contest #14 Topic:

Candid Shots - I want to see some unposed informal photographs. Ones that are caught off guard or unprepared but still say something or touch you in some way. I want the picture to say something without asking someone to pose, etc.

Due Date: 6.28.08 - Winner announced on the 29th

My brother jumping at me at the wedding we were at this weekend in la...

He was the best man.

Figure this isn't a winner.. but it is a chance to post an embarrassing photo of Jesse in a public place to be viewed by hundreds if not thousands

and I imagine at least a few people here actually know him hah..

Let this be a lesson.. never jump at someone making a wierd face when they have an SLR in their hand.. they might just squeeze off a shot without even looking thru the viewfinder.. and those things focus pretty fast
straight out of the camera... not cropped or anything.

I was hiking in a state park and came across this child fishing with an old fashioned pole, caught my attention as a great shot.

I took this at a friends wedding with my old sony digicam. i forgot to turn the flash on cause I was wasted, that made the picture a tad grainy and out of focus but the lighting came out cool. Drunk cameraman FTW!!!

Walking along Brighton Beach in NY. It was late in the winter and the temperatures were getting milder. We stood there and watched as this lady walked out towards the birds and then started throwing bread crumbs all over to feed them...

Thought and Focus

I really like this one as it's the kind of photo that speaks to me as a viewer. I feel fortunate to have been the fly on the wall at the time and been able to catch this without them catching me.

Hunny deep in thought, and Biggy literally very focused. This was shot at the Lynfred Winery in Roselle, in the basement while we were waiting for events to start.

Low light, hand held with my Nikon D300 using the Sigma 30mm @ f2 @ 1/15th. No flash.

This is my submision for Challenge #15
