Finally got a dedicated flash

I just got a Nikon SB-600 for my birthday; jeebus I have some reading to do! Now I have all the tools to really get down and dirty and start to learn how to take photographs instead of just 'snaps'. My good shots are lucky as the light is just right. Now (I hope) I can figure out how to add and control light to get some better exposures.

Minimalist Lighting by Kirk Tuck will teach you more than you ever want to know about using 1 or more flash units.

Hmm, thanks for the tip. I will check that out.

I used it a bit the other night and got some shots that I never would have been able to get with the built-in flash. My D40 just got much heavier as well!

hmmm flashes!?!? i have the 430EX for my Canon 400D. when it takes long for the flash to recharge, does that mean that the batteries are dying out? just wondering. i haven't had a chance to read the manual yet. i've just been using it and doing trial and error for now.
