I want a helmet cam

Anybody with some experience give me some pointers. The fact is, it's going to get beat up and I'm going to destroy it I know. But what is my best bet and most economical? I want some good video footage but I don't want to break the bank. I want something for trackdays, dirt bike riding and the occasional street ride blast. I'd like something I can directly plug into the usb on my laptop and something I can take at least an hour of footage with.

gopro hero.. cheap enough around $150-$200

standard cheap SD card memory, and comes with a bunch of different mounts. one 2gb SD holds about 56min of vid. you have to use the lithium batteries, because the alkaline ones suck for vibration. i was putting 2 new AAAs in after every session on my bike at the track.

its the same ones you see on the guys that are racing pro motorcross, xgames, supercross.

obviously this has lost quite a bit of quality after being compressed to avi, then uploaded to youtube.

I got a samsung sports camera that comes with a helmet cam. I didn't care for the helmet video so definitly take winks advice and mount it on the bike. I like mine because you can use it regularly not only as a helmet cam.

just a few of the possibilities.. all these angles are using stuff that comes with the camera. either the double sided tape mounts, or the suction mount.

Helmet Cams and the Oregon Sci are crap. The video is crap and you get what you pay for.

The GoPro is about the cheapest good quality capture alternative. If you are looking to produce DVDs, they still aren't good enough even in the 5M version, but they are more than adequate for YouTube content.

Look into the V holdr. I have one and it's built specifically for dirt sports and for rough riding. It's under $300 and I believe the picture is better then the GoPro. Plus it's easy to use and made in a billet aluminum housing. If I wasn't so computer retarded, i'd post a vid of of it.

I only listed the atc because it's cheap and tough and can be helmet mounted. His specs. They are like 50 bucks and waterproof to 3 or 4 ' I think.

Obviously it's not the best solution. But giving his req's it fit. Hell they are disposable. Give it a shot. Pick one up on eBay for a few bucks
