Photo challenge # 27: PEOPLE IN ACTION

R U L E S:- The host gives you a topic of interest and you get going. You post ONE image (only first image by one person will be judged) that is relevant to the challenger theme. You can change your image as many times as you like before the deadline.

- The host chooses a winner *AND* runner-up after closing. The decision of the judge (the Host!) is final. The judge is *not* eligible. The winner then chooses the next topic, tells everyone when the photo's must be posted by (give some reasonable amount of time like a week), runs the challenge, judges the winner and passes on the baton to that person. Winner/Host, please post a reasonable topic that someone who's not a pro photographer can be a part of. Remember it's not just cool shots, but the story that can be told for some.

- If the winner fails to post a new challenge within 48 hours of being declared the winner then the runner-up should post the new challenge within a further 24 hours.

- Any picture you've taken is eligible regardless of time taken and camera it was taken with. You can do all the post processing you want. However, it is most helpful if you list your camera, lens and exposure info along with your photo.

- All levels welcome. If you don't have the best lens or just a plain old pocket camera but your shot tells a wonderful story then there's no reason you can't win! This is about overall photo's and their story, not just about expensive equipment.

- Feel free to comment on other contestant's images. If you want someone to leave you a piece of constructive criticism, ask for it...after all we are here to learn too and practice.

- Provide any additional information concerning your entry you want. Explaining how the shot might relate to the topic could help too.

- Winner/Host, please copy and paste these rules into the topic and thread that you post because some might start doing contests later

************************************************** **

I want to see PEOPLE IN ACTION

I want to see people in the middle of doing something that involves movement and that you wouldn’t see them doing every day. I want to see exciting shots of people playing sports, jumping, riding motorcycles, dancing, etc. I don’t want to see a shot of someone walking down the street or anything boring like that.

Here are some examples, let me know if you have questions….

yahoo image search turns up some weird stuff….

If you have a well done photo of someone sliding, rolling smoke on exit, powering the front up while still leaned, coming into T1 on one wheel or anything cool like that it would likely be in the running.

Here is my entry from the circus - girls pretending to be motorcycles in a motorcycle riding number from the show today:

Model: Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi
Focal Length: 115.0 mm
F-Number: F/5.6
Exposure Time: 0.01 sec. 1/100
Metering Mode: Spot
ISO Speed: 1600

Few other pictures:

This is all I have from almost 300 shots - unfortunately hopelessly slow lens and poor light made me jack ISO up to 1600 and 200mm was nowhere near enough to get good pics from where I sat - got tickets only 2 days before the show. - about 200 shots were blurry/grainy/underexposed/poorly framed

The only thing that could make this shot any better is if she had a shotgun and a bubble over her head screaming out "it's coming right for us"

...

or he had a shotgun and she was tossing a pigeon into the air.. but that's only funny to true val kilmer fans

Nice shot!

This thread is for the photo challenge, one could easily start their own thread to show off their "action" photos. I only picked on DRZ because he posted a whole slew of them and could easily have started his own thread jam packed with these fun photos.

I'm just trying to keep the photo challenge on track. Even though I don't participate as much as I'd like because of work, I'm very appreciative of having these challenges, and hope to keep them here for what they are here for...which is challenging ourselves to be better photographers and learn from one another each challenge.

I've seen huge jumps in skill from the people who regularly participate in these challenges, and that just fuckin' rocks. I'm hoping I can keep up with everyone who have so quickly caught up and passed me in skill!

So yeah, maybe a bit uptight, but that's only because I really love these challenges and the photos from those who participate.
