Before You Buy a Camera Online, Read This!

Check the online store's rating against this site: http://www.resellerratings.com/

There are so many scam sites out there it's unreal. Usually it's the same group of people just changing their online site name. Generally out of the Bronx or Brooklyn.

Please be cautious when purchasing online, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.

I use http://www.adorama.com/ and http://www.bhphotovideo.com/ for new equipment.

For used equipment, I've heard amazing things about http://www.keh.com/onlinestore/home.aspx

I stay away from big box stores like Best Buy and such, but that's personal.

My dad fell for one of these and bought a gray market D80. Something got messed up and it no longer would save pictures to the memory card. He bought a new one and gave me the old. Reflashing the firmware did nothing. I sent it to Nikon, who sent it back saying they wouldn't touch it, but it somehow worked when I got it back. Hasn't had a problem since

They're going chpt 11. Just reorganizing. Ritzcamera.com is a completely separate business from the retail stores which are the ones going in bankruptcy.

I bought a camera a few years back from Abe's of Maine and I didn't have any problems, but after I bought it I heard a lot of bad things about them. I still have the camera and I use it every so often.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

I've bought a few thing from Abes of Maine. Never had a problem, even when i had to make a return.
