Finally here!

Just arrived, the new toy. Canon 450D with 18-55 IS lens and Extreme III 4GB card. Can't wait to put it to use. Total $680 shipped.

sweet. My D90 and 18-200VR will be here tomorrow! (to bad im at work DOH!) I will thoroughly enjoy it on thursday during the day though. Supposed to be 55 and sunny

BTW, if you want to try nifty-fifty, let me know you can borrow it or buy it from me - it's the best IQ you can get for the money and can't beat F/1.8 - I just find it that with my Sigma 18-50 f/2.8, I rarely trade the convinience of zoom to bit of extra sharpness of fifty

Is the fifty used for portraits?

it can be used for anything if you don't mind using your legs for zooming. the only limitation is shooting indoors - with crop sensor it is more like 75mm, so to get a full body shot you have to step back sometimes more than room allows.

the lens is extremely sharp and fast - can be used in low light shoots easly. It is cheaply built and AF is a bit slow - only $80 lens, but if you are not going to abuse it, it will work long time and produce amazing images
