Camera for the mom?

So figured id ask my friendly CLSB camera people.

Im trying to find a way to swing buying my mom a camera this chirstmas. Yea i know i could go to my local target and buy a cheap 75-100 dollar camera but id like to get her something nice without breaking my bank.

i know she mentioned a while back she really liked the canon rebel t1i but i dont got anywhere near $800 dollars to drop.

Any ideas on a good quality camera i can buy her that wont break my bank.

Everyone needs a healthy way to relax, mine Church, and two wheels, a stretch of winding road, and a pipe loud enough to give me headaches and make squirrels explode. (Fixed curtousey of PWRMAD)

Nothing is impossible the second we say ill try your already admiting you can be defeated, and the second you say i cant or its to hard youve already failed.

The Canon PowerShot SD980 is listed at $300 but you can probably find a deal. I love my Canon; it's 2-3 years old and takes great pictures, and is small and easy to tote around.
The SD980 has a touch screen, which I think is a new feature for this camera. And, for mom, it comes in pink

if she wants a DSLR and you don't have the coin for it, don't buy her a P&S style camera. buy a different gift.

How you found us: Googled it.

I shoot a Nikon D200, but that's not quite in the budget. And not made anymore. However, my pocketable camera is a Panasonic Lumix. I love it, fantastic shots and affordable. Costco is supposed to have one for $200 on black friday.

wether or not i could swing a nice camera for her christmas is the question, im trying to feel the water here so to speak.

id rather get her the rebel she wants so i do agree with you though, cause belive me she desereves it, but with the amount of renovations my mom and our roomate just did on the house i dont forsee her buying one for herself in a while. hence why id like to find a way to swing a nice one for her.

Well, I only suggested the power shot because if your mother is anything like mine, she'll say things like "I want a DSLR" because she heard it on Oprah or Martha Stewart, but she will really never use its features and will be completely happy with the powershot.
