looking to buy a smoker

Any suggestions? Any brands to stay away from? We have a charcoal kettle smoker now and it's a pain in the ass. I'm looking for electric. We've gone to bass pro shop and looked at what they have to offer. I just don't want to spend $275ish and get crap.

I don't ride, I cook!

I've had this one for 4 years and love it! I'm not going to lie, it is pricey, but it's amazing. Set the time and temp, set the smoking time, and then walk away and come back when it's done.

The sales guy said the biggest complaint is that you have to use their little disk/puck things. They are expensive, and so are parts if you ever have problems with a bradley. We did look at that it's .

Your sales guy was misinformed. I've had to replace some parts (a couple cables). Almost all parts are $2. The pucks cost more than wood, but aren't bad priced at all. I just buy a couple boxes of 48 and that lasts me a year. It's nothing to worry about. If you want to check mine out, I'm happy to have you and dave over for some ribs

So an internal thermometor isn't a big deal? We have a few we can check temps with from time to time. And I never pass up food. I'll hit ya up on that offer

Fawk that no need! Everything you cook will have hourly cook times per weight.

I really like my gas smoker I used to have, just a cheap Brinkman. It would cook all day with little to no adjustments. Probably about the same as an electric, but at least a real flame.

Big green Egg's are the shit, but uber expensive and small by all accounts. I like the R2D2 shaped smokers vs. the offset, grill like smokers, like they say with those, if you're looking, you ain't cookin'.

I do like my electric, I just wish it had and adjustable temp controller. 250 is sometimes too hot.

Yup! I'm thinking about adding a smoke stack to regulate the heat a bit, or possibly wiring up a thermostatic switch to control the heating element powering up.

It's not electric but I love my CharGriller offset smoker. It's cheap enough and I can do a shit ton of food on it at once. I enjoy using fire instead of electricity but it's not for everyone. Once you get a feel for it, it's pretty easy to maintain a constant 225 degrees for hours on end.
