If it wasn't $100, I would get it in a heartbeat, but it's pretty hard to justify that cost

I'll wait for the knockoff version to come out for half the price.

My neighbor has an Egg cooker with adjustable vents and temperature monitoring. So when he's at work, he can adjust the temperature over the web or monitor how the meats cooking. Frankly..... that's just a bit too anal.

Those probes are really only effective up to about 400 degrees. If you're smoking at lower temps this would probably be a fine idea.

This is half the price:

Despite the reviews, it actually works well. I have one and cooks to perfection. Have only used in the oven, though. Not tested yet on grill.

Convince me to wait for the Iphone5.

What will it have worth waiting?

I can get the current ones cheap. I don't want to wait till later this summer.

of course not. my parents were engineers, it actually reminded me of something my father would do. I mean... he rigged up a motion sensor in the backyard with a strobe light and radio to try and scare away a heron that was eating our pond fish. I'm almost surprised he didn't set up instant SMS and email notifications for every occurrence!

I got a Java program he could modify to do that...
