Smoothies

Anyone got any good Smoothie recipes?

There are tons on the internet, but I was just curious if anyone had a recipe that they love already.

What are you looking for?

I've got a few recipes I can scoop up. You thinking something you can add your protein to? Veggie juices? fruit juices?

Fruit. I can't stop eating Ice Cream or Margaritas. Trying to get something a little more healthy. You know, Strawberry Smoothie, Peach Smoothie, Strawberry Banana Smoothie, that kind of stuff.

Once I get decent at those, I'd be happy to start adding protein or other healthy additives.

I have one almost every morning.

Ten whole frozen strawberries, 3 tablespoons vanilla yogurt, a smidge of apple juice, one whole banana, and a scoop of Nitro Tech protein powder. Good stuff. Easy and quick to make, and easy cleanup too.

So, you thinking alcoholic smoothies?? Cause I just get a can of the frozen Welch's fruit juice concentrate, throw it in a blender with a splash of water and douse that in rum.

No, I can make all sorts of alcoholic smoothies. No worries there.

I am looking for the ones like CP posted above, sounds simple and good. I'll see if we have any yogurt and try that one today.

I am a very finicky eater, and this rocks. Sometimes I have two a day, and they fill me up so I don't snack too much. Protein mix for muscle recovery, and fruit for nutrients and fiber. Even my kid likes them and BEGS me to make her one in the morning. What more can you ask for? When I beat out Lucky Charms that says something.

Just broke-in my new blender with Alton Brown's latest recipe.

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/a...ipe/index.html

4 ounces plain, low-fat soy milk
4 ounces acai, grape, or pomegranate juice
4 ounces frozen banana
4 ounces frozen strawberries
4 ounces frozen blueberries
4 ounces frozen peaches

You really need a scale to do this one as the amounts are ounces in weight, not fluid ounces. I guessed on the amounts and it still came out really good. I also used real 'merican cow milk instead of soy milk. Not cheap if you go with the Pom or Acai juice, but packed with vitamins.

This is pretty much the same as I make, just with actual measurements. I think I'm going to look into adding the protein powder though, seems like there's a lot of flavors to mask how bad that stuff can taste.

We were just talking about this last week when I tried on those Sidis, lol!
Mine's easy-
Jay Robb Egg White protein powder
7-8 frozen pitted black cherries
1/2 banana or 3 tbsp chilled, cooked sweet potato
water or apple juice to desired consistency

I'll usually add a seasonal fruit like peaches, strawberries or blackberries to the mix, and I always love pineapple.

as of late:

-3 scoops of wheybolic 60 (C&C) + a scoop of cookies and cream ice cream.

otherwise:

-3 scoops of wheybolic 60 (vanilla) + mango juice + whole banana. No nana and i'll substitute it with honeydew or other types of melons.

I don't really care for flavor as it all goes down with one shot.

How do you guys feel about using fresh fruit vs. frozen fruit? Lose any health benefits?

CP - no ice in yours to make it cold/smoothie like? The frozen strawberries fill that spot I'm guessing?

I'm with Wink, can't get enough ice cream. Just one of those things that's the perfect food (IMO).

You got it, no ice with frozen, plus I don't need to ALWAYS have them with fresh fruit going bad and stuff. When I am working out like crazy I try to have one each day for protein, fiber, and vitamins.

I made one similar to that this morning, oj, frozen strawberries, frozen mangos, banana and some yogurt.

What does flax seed do?

They get stuck in your teeth On a serious note, they give you the 'good cholesterol' and supposedly help w/ lowering blood pressure, triglycerides, etc... I'd personally rather have an avocado in there for that... plus you'd get some more potassium

Been doing the smoothie thing for a few weeks now and Im liking the bag of Yoplait Smoothie Mix packets I bought.

Each packet is good for two servings and comes with frozen yogurt, strawberries, raspberries, and blue berries.

I add a couple scoops of EAS, pinch of sliced almonds for a delicous nutricous post workout smoothie.
