This is probably the safest way, to launch a wheelie, but it doesn't work on an EX-500, or many older 600's. Simply put, just gradually increase your throttle while in first gear, until you are wide open. If your bike has enough power, your front wheel will just come up.

Get a CRF50, the ultimate training tool for wheelies and SO SO fun. Master the fiddy and apply it to big bikes. Just throwing this vid in here because I'm bored. Nothing special, just having some fun the other weekend before we had snow...

Grasshopper I like all forms of motorcycle racing and riding but there isn't anything much cooler than watching someone who can truely balance and ride a good wheelie... stall it, lean, play with the rear brake, give it some more gas, play with the brake some more and go the opposite direction. Thats cool shit. I really want to learn how

You should put some ice wheels / tires on that DRZ and rock a wheelie across an entire lake with one leg hanging over the front of the handlebars.
