Amateurs...

When it comes to MB, its either HAMANN tuned or nothing.

Chicago Performance 06-09-2011 10:09 PM

Do NOT get this, unless you want to fight off dozens of sex crazed chicks every time you drive it.

I was pretty impressed with my buddies sl500amg. Definately hung the rear end out for about 50 feet which is all that I care about. :jester

+1 Over engineered cars assembled by Turkish and Ethiopian "guest laborers"

(no, the factory workers are not in fact all blond hair and blue eyed :jester)

I think WSE knows a lot about them, specifically referring to the dead hooker storage.

lol dead hooker jokes always deliver :cheers

As mentioned, stick with the AMG models.

If you are looking at a used merc, plan on spending about $10k a year maintaining it. No joke.

PolishPete 06-10-2011 11:15 AM

Mercedes?

Baller!

P.S...I know it doesn't help you here...but I vote Audi.

Looked closely between a few Benz' and Audi's before I made my last purchase.

What model are you looking at? My cousin is a GM at a Benz dealer in Florida. I was going to buy from him and have him ship it up here, but choose a different car.

Kruz 06-10-2011 11:18 AM

I'm guessing Brian wants a convertible 2 seater.

Kruz 06-10-2011 11:19 AM

Only Audi I would consider is the R8. Comes without a top too Brian.

Chills 06-10-2011 11:54 AM

The Audis I've seen were pretty maintenance heavy, too. If you want sweet German luxury go with BMW.

Audi's are not bad on maintenance at all. This is my 2nd Audi and I have been very pleased. Plus am on some Audi boards and don't see any sort of heavy maintenance issues like you might encounter with Benz.

As for BMW...good looking exteriors, terrible looking interiors. The insides look like 1990's Hondas. They would make some sick cars if they could learn to design a better interior.

Audi and BMW have really stepped up their game in the past few years. I'd definitely take a closer look at Audi before considering a Merc.

BMWs now come with a 4 year free maintenance program which includes oil changes, brake changes, etc. I believe the insurance on them is lower due to that reason.

RSVMillenian 06-10-2011 12:28 PM

Wink,

I owned few used one and love the MB. BMW owners are just MB wanna be's. LOL

There is a super nice independent MB service that I can vouch for. They are called Pinnacle Automotive http://www.pinnacleautomotive.net/ call and ask for Steve or Brian and ask them anything you want. They are super nice people and have tons of experience working on MBs (new and old). Just call them you will not regret it.

Don't buy a BMW for the longstanding 4yr/50k maintenance plan as you get maybe oil changes and brakes likely wont run out before then. You do get free wiper blades and fluid! :D

Insurance is definitely not lower because of this plan.

BMW interiors are Spartan so if you like flashy gadgets and blue lights look elsewhere.

taledarkside 06-10-2011 03:08 PM

isn't mercedes the one that puts the drain plug in a stupid spot on their SUVs?

After owning an Audi and a VW I would never buy one again!

Germany 06-10-2011 03:27 PM

what do wanna know? i know a little about the european models, my brother, his wife, several of their friends, my uncle, my cousin and a few of my friends work there, or have at some point or another...

brabus tuned over amg or hamann.

unimog would be the best vehicle if you plan on owning a farm or a track. or if the blizzards get more common around here.
