Very nice!! I'm not even going to pretend I know what half of that means. Ha! I'm guessing P stands for police????

I've only fired a coupe rifles before, but one of them was a Remington 700, (in .308 I think). I don't think the smile faded from my face for hours.

I liked it a lot. :)

Any stock work? Freefloating, glassbeding, etc?
Not at this time. As Inu stated the stock has pillar bedding and is free floated from teh chamber forward. The one good thing about the Badger ordance bottom metal is teh fact that it allows you to torque the action down to 65 inch pounds with no fear of warping it. The factory bottom metal holds a torque spech of 45 inch pounds yet many people try and torque it to 65 distorting it and causing issues with the way the action seats in teh stock. I garuntee this rifle to shot sub MOA at 100 yards.

As far as teh $ questions, under $2K for a fully scoped rifle is a great buy. And you have to consider all the parts were bought new. While there are many RIFLES alone that can cost $2K, having a full kit with quality parts for under that price tag is a good way to start. this type of set up will satisfy about 90% of individuals who want to break into long range shooting. It will also meet the demands hunters looking to take a 600 - 800 yard shot at a deer through corn stalks 8ft high.

That's what I was thinking too. I was drooling all over that thing until I realized I couldn't afford it. :mecry: well maybe I could.

I still didn't pull the trigger on the 7mm mag. ok, so what is the best option for a target, and lr deer gun. The Thompson Center Venture shoots moa @ 100yds in 7mm Rem Mag with a 4.5-14x40 nikon buckmaster - $390 for the gun new after rebate $200 something for the scope.

The gun you just built. - prolly at least a grand more than the above.

or...

an AR15 or AR10 in .308 with a awesome .223 scope(AR15) or the above scope with the 10? cost$? brand reco's?

option E -whatever you recommend?

sorry to mess up this thread I can cut n paste it into mine if needed.

Goal is the most cost effective accurate lr target/hunting gun.

Headed to the gym, I'll answr this one later

That looks like a fantastic rifle!

Inu, I'll take you out to Aurora Sportsman's Club, and I bet we could get you certified on the 600 yard range.
Ho wmany guests are you allowed? I have an AI i need to sight in, can we make this a 3 some? I'll even let you touch it.

cool, I'll look forward to reading it.

I know little to nothing about AR's so this an ok choice?

oh and option F - put a nikon scope on my 7600 30-06 and buy ammo to get used to hitting things further than 100 yds away. lol

- that's prolly the cheapest option at $250 well other than doing nothing at all

I can bring up to three guests. It's $10 per guest. We'd have instant access to the 100-200-300 yard ranges, but we'd need a range officer to watch you dial in your scope between those three ranges to prove you know how to dial it in before they allow you on the 600.

So if you don't mind jumping through that hoop, we can try and get out there this weekend or the following. I could use some pointers on my "doping".

Just got back from the gym and my balls are sticking to my thighs so I'm gonna shower. Will still have to answer this later when I have time to devote to writing a real response.

I may not pass the test on zeroing at those distances, may not be a good idea for me to come!

Inu is on holiday till teh 12th so the next two weeks may not work for the three of us. Lets definatly get something together though!

As far as doping goes, I usualy just go needle into the arm for the fastest results. Otherwise I just snort whatever it is as that gets the 2nd fastest high. Man, I "crack" me up!!!

What caliber are you shooting, what scope/reticle, what rifle platform and what distances. I could probably come up with something on teh fly for you.

I have a ponch built ar that I would consider selling.
pics/price?

I'm not sold on using an AR to hunt deer yet, but it would be cool to try. That and some of the gun shop people around here think you should use a .22 to kill deer. Tell them you're used to using a 30-06 and you're looking for a 7mm mag and they're like :O that's way over kill! The deer end up just as dead when it's time to gut and process them and 90% of the time it's only one shot so i don't see the problem. :moon:
