Searched the forum, found nothing, I know Illinois doesn't allow titles from title companies. I do not wish to title this thing, its meant to live on the track only.

I bought an 03 cbr track bike (has lighting though) with no title from an acquaintance I have known for a long time, but he never bothered to get a duplicate after he lost it years ago since it was only ridden on the track. I verified the VIN with IL state police as being clean and legit. He moved to Cali the day I bought it. Obviously anyone I try to sell it to will think it's been stolen, I don't blame them, my fault for being an idiot buying it without paperwork.

However I need to sell it to free up garage space. What are my chances of making my money back? Or am I stuck with it/parting it out(which I rather not, its a very nice tuned 600).

TIA

So far, every single inquiry has been about titles. I guess the future owner has to trailer this thing home rather than risk it on the street?

Will CLSB members beat me up for trying to sell it on here?

what year and make?

Sorry, my mistake above, its an olive green 03 CBR 600RR with Yoshi RS-5 carbon slip on and PCIII.

there are a lot of track only bikes in this situation rollin around, its not uncommon, get a print out from a state authority that has the vin and says its not stolen itll sell no problem

Im in the same situation, I paid for a title/vin search and printed out the results so when its time to sell I have proof that its clean.

Hmm, mind if ask which title search you are using? Maybe that will help facilitate my sale also.

Get the state stuff like mentioned, but just do a carfax. If someone wants to buy it, they can get the carfax guarantee.

I swear I thought motorcycle VIN's aren't listed in the CarFax database, but I just checked and it found my VIN :)

Thanks for the advice.
