The term computer guy is not so BROAD that you cannot even hate the group... heck you cannot even say blogger withtout including tons of people now. Dude you are wasting time and energy on disliking people. WHO CARES! now I will go and comment on your blog LOL

From my experience, when you ninja loot you are taking items off a body that cannot be given to anyone else, and your group didn't want you to, or taking them and not sharing if somene else "needs."

And on the topic of computer nerds, who cares. I can be one at times, shoot, I knew all of that besides 29. I'm exposed to crap that makes me as a teenager looks worse, i.e. tramp stamps, disrespectful kids, all that. When it all comes down to it, I don't care. If people aren't willing to give me the time and figure out who I am on their own, they can bite me. If you think I'm a loser, then go ahead and think it, but it just goes to show how idiotic you can be, generalizing.

There's good and bad in everything, don't associate everyone with the bad.

Oh yeah, one more note. My girl knows that I'm a computer dork and still loves me, at least I don't have to pretend to be something I'm not.
Exactly,

As long as personal hygene is not being compromised, I can care less what your addiction is. I have never really gotten into D&D but I have friends that are Dungeon Masters from back in the day and loved that... but some of them could probably rip your guts apart in real life and you would never guess that they are into it.

We here are all bike geeks to certains extent, some more than others... like if Rick was into computer games he will be calling everyone a Noob and telling them how you run faster with the knife... he will totally be FPSDoug, LMAO.

P.J. I know you were not trying to call me directly a loser, but I know a lot of people that are really into computers and videogames as a hobbie and believe me they are far from losers, not every gamer lives in their parents basement... that is just wrong to stereotype now a days. Is like the whole Harley Riders think that all sportbike riders are squids on rockets or viceversa that they are all ride to the next bar to get tanked.

After spending about 90% of the weekend playing Need for speed underground I had to re-read the list again for a good laugh:laughing :laughing

btw PJ....I'm' pretty sure I'm not a loser, but I wasn't feeling well this weekend and Xbox is a killa way to pass the time :)

My playstation has an inch of dust on it and the only game in my computer is solitare :D And I have no idea what all of this numbers and letters shit is, that supposedly is some language that I can only assume is decoded on the back of a some pocket protector. :laughing

When I was younger I was into it and following the culture, Hell I remeber needing a boot disc on my 486 50mhz machine to play leisure suit larry back in the day. But I lost touch once I turned 19, got my fake ID and left the house for more favorable pursuits ;)

#15. Ninja loot

Ninja looting is done in multi-player role playing games (think, Everquest, World of Warcraft... etc). When a monster dies, they drop items. If you're in a group and a monster dies and you grab an item without the approval of the group, then disappear (go linkdead, transport to another location), you're guilty of ninja looting. It's considered VERY poor taste, and will frequently prevent you from ever getting another group. Items that are ninja looted range from easy to get spells, to items worth hundreds of US Dollars on e-bay.

Yea, you can get a lot of money for good acounts, rare items, etc. There is a guy I work with that has been playing UO for 8 years. You would never guess either, he is an ubber jock and he sells stuff online. He is a beast master - animal trainner (I don't play that game) and has sold rare dragos or something called riyus for mula, like 100's... it is not worth it to me, but for some other people...

Also the dude fatal1ty (best known FPS player) has his own company now and is making tons of money, some prices in tournaments are in the 10s of thousands.

is this really a suprise?

Didn't you play in arcades as a kid? spend every available dollar to try to beat your friends in street fighter II? whats the difference between a 15 year old in an arcade/pizza joint playing a video game at 25 cents per play...

another way to look at it is, is paying to play a game any different then gambling? These people purchase things on places like ebay, and it makes them a more competitive player. Very similar to those people that buy video's tapes, etc to learn the secrets of a game like Texas Holdem. The only difference is in Texas holdem you stand a chance of winning money (albeit very slim)

A friend of mine sold his Everquest character almost 2 years ago for a friggin record setting $5500 (might have been more). We all thought it was a bogus bid, but sure enough... he got a check 2 days later and the buyer is still playing the character (and recovering from a severed spine injury he got... which was his reason for buying the character).

I personally have sold about $23,000 worth of items via playerauctions, e-bay, and some of the gold farming sites.

Yes, there are rooms full of chinese kids that simply play the game to get gold (in game currency) and then sell that gold online. http://www.igxe.com/

People buy the gold and/or items for a variety of reasons. I recently bought some myself. I had to face a decision. I could either do something extremely boring for 15-20 hours, or I could pay some starving foreign kid $1 an hour to do it for me. It wasn't a tough choice.

Now, with that in-game money, I bought a few things that help me to make items that I can sell on-line. I've already recovered the cash I spent, and then some.

Yes... I'm a geek.

It's a bit late for you to get into that now. As Slycer said, it's been outsourced now. You'll never compete with them price wise.

I play quite a few video games, but never got into the internet stuff. The few times I have, we got our asses handed to us by 12 year old kids. I spend enough time on the net surfing for pR0n, don't need that stuff. If I had a proper net connection and friends online who don't take it so seriously than I'd consider it.
