Apparently Denny Green made some comments about the Bears being beatable and he had some ideas on how to do it before the game. I think this is what he was referring to with the "who they are" comment. Stupid stuff, but Denny Green has always been a nutcase in the Dusty Baker way.

Thomas Jones stunk as bad as Rex did last night. I understand more and more why Angelo took Benson with the 4th pick. Benson hits the hole hard and has a very good initial burst. Jones is the exact opposite. The only defense for TJ last night is that Ron Turner didn't give him a chance to get going. Ron Turner must have thought he was Steve Spurrier with all the damn passes he called last night. Nothing like helping your floundering young QB by calling seven straight pass plays! Friggin idiot....

It's definately not time to panic. Rex and the O will get things figured out during the bye week. Monday Night Football on the road against a team opening their new stadium is a tough game to play. Look was the Saints did in their reopening game this year! Plus, I don't think they could have a worse game than they played last night so it's only uphill from here! We get San Fran and Miami at home after the Bye week so we should be back in synch by the time we go on the road against the Giants, Jets and Patriots in the toughest part of our schedule.

Well put - You're good you

Ok so Im late to this thread..but holy crap. I turned it off at 23-3 and went to bed and almost had a heart attack the next morning watching ESPN. Complacency is a bear'tch. Im glad they got a close one to scare them into something. Believing your own press with this schedule is crap. To me this kinda stuff is what happened to them in the playoffs last year. Play scared and angry and know the 'any given sunday' speech. Listening to the radio this was supposed to be a 5000-23 point victory...wtf?? They are a much better team than what this game was obviously but they need to quit reading the news. I think they can make it to the championship game but they are going to have to be better than this(duh). Running game needs to step up...both these guys should be giving us a total of over 130 every game. Im glad they won but I hope its a good wakeup call.

Rex better not ever throw like that again. WTF was with going long pass after pass, and to receivers with 2 and 3 guys on them?
Yep forcing it too much trying to make some magic.:bangin

Trying to be like Favre? but you all see how THAT team's doing this year. This had to be the only game with 6 turnovers and Cards didn't win. Just off turnovers the Cards SHOULD have had over 20 points. They lost because they didn't capitolize on that. Likely reason why Green canned his off. coordinator. That and he's a nutcase. Three off. coordinators in 2 year? Um, I don't think the problem is with THEM.

I love the Favre compairisons I hear about Rex. Look at Favre's career. Even in his prime, he had some horrid games. In the playoffs even. The point is, all good/great/HOF QBs do. If you want a QB with a gunslinger mentality, you have to live with games like this. It's always going to be high risk/high reward. Do you want a QB that can stretch the defense or Shane Matthews (former Gator also, fwiw) and his 5 yard soft tosses? The key is how he turns it around. QBs need short memories. The O-Coordinator is a factor in this too.

And to all the Orton idiots calling in on the radio-- didn't Kyle throw FIVE ints vs the Bengals at home last year in a LOSS? Oh wait- Kyle singlehandedly led them to 10 wins. Well, Rex has 6 wins in 6 chances this year, so there goes that arguement. I don't know if I was screaming at the Bears more than I scream at these idiot callers who call the sports talk shows. The Greise callers are even better. Yeah, a journeyman that is on his 4th team in what- 8 years, is the answer?

Thomas Jones needs to stop tap-dancing behind the line and hit a hole, dammit.

Bottom line is-- I love talking football! Go Bears!!!

+100 I definitely don't want Orton back. The guy never even used play action :bangin . We are fine with Rex, just hope he stays healthy.

After watching the game again, I really can't say enough about the game Brian Urlacher played. He has been fairly quiet so far this year, but he was EVERYWHERE on Monday night. Every once and a while I start thinking maybe Urlacher is overrated.........then I remember what this guy is capable of and laugh at myself for doubting!

The calls for Brian Griese are happening again all over sports radio. I'm not sure why people think Griese is going to protect the ball. His rap has always been throwing too many INTs in key situations. One good preseason though and everyone forgets the last five years of his career. Griese is a capable backup, not a savior.

I never liked the Grossman-Farve comparisons. Rex has confidence, a strong arm and can throw from odd positions like Farve but Farve (in his prime) could make accurate throws downfield with defenders around his knees. Rex does not have that kind of arm or accuracy. Rex can be a top-tier quarterback (re: a strong armed Chad Pennington) but it's very unlikely he will ever be a hall of famer.

I'm still laughing at a mix audio clip on the radio today of Denny Green and some going crazy song. That man is in total meltdown mode. The poor Cardinals are the worst franchise in football. All that talent and they still stink!

I don't really understand why we'd bench one of the top QB's in the league through 5 weeks for 1 awful game. But that's just a Chicago sports team fan's nature I guess.

Rex will tear up the 49ers and we'll all forget about it. The Niners defense is giving up the most passing yards per game in the league, so it'll let Rex get his confidence back.

Favre had kick ass receivers to make up for his sometimes poor decision making. And he still threw interceptions. The year before they won the super bowl he had more INTs than TDs. They added a few receivers and *bam*, super bowl.

Cardinals (football) and Yankees are proof that even if you put a bunch of awesome players together, they still have to act like a team to win.
