I just received this in an email from my dad. Very impressive.

Parking Lots in Germany

This is pretty amazing! Can you imagine how all this operates? How do they lock each car in its cubicle for safety? My guess is the mechanism that moves them in and out of the space also locks them in place. Talk about German efficiency! The two photos below were taken at a new parking garage in Munich. The actual space that the facility occupies is approximately only 20% of a comparable facility with the traditional design that is used primarily in the US. Not only is the German structure less expensive to build, but vehicles are also "retrieved" in less time and without the potential of being damaged by an attendant.

OK, and I'd hate to see the riot when that elevator brakes down! LOL

Looks fracken fantastic though!
Took the words right outta my mouth!

Maynard, I guess you've never been to Europe... they like the smaller more fuel efficient cars, and I'd say the majority of them are diesel. Most of them have never seen anything much bigger than a Toyota 4Runner, and even those are rare. The "semi's" are considerably smaller than ours. A distant ex-cousin is coming out in August and is planning to rent a Tahoe or large SUV, just for the fact that he has never ridden in something that big! hehe

Ok, I'll :stfu: since it's an urban legend...

Can they park a bike :laughing. Pretty cool, looks similar to that garage on Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift.

When I lived in Germany our apartment building had what looked like a bunch of one car garages under it, but inside there was a lift where you pull in and park your car and then you can either move it up or down and you can fit a second car in... It was great for my car since I had bought a german car, but my ex husbands car was an american car and it was a little bit tight to get in and out of once you parked it... It was the neatest thing and I would always show all my visitors it first before anything else... :lmao:

The Autostadt, which opened in 2001 and boasts a hotel, restaurants, a museum, and other attractions, sees over 1 million visitors per year. Car buyers take delivery of their purchases via a fully automated procedure whereby the automobile is plucked robotically from a cubbyhole in one of the two "twin towers," each of which holds up to 400 vehicles, and brought to its owner on a special elevator
that's still pretty darn cool....now I am going to have to go to Germany and see this for myself :D
