If you are good at sales, they are hiring, they are doing a new class every
month. The training is tough but doable and the upside potential is huge.
The benefits speak for themselves. If you have anyquestions email me.

Oh and you dont have to be a tech head to do this job.........

arent they selling soon? I read that a sale was in the works. Ramping up sales force prior to a sell is common too. Just an observation, you can make bank working sales there if you're good.

yea we are being sold.........

so that we can get funding that would be harder to do if we were still public.
the guys running this are very shrewd and this move will look like genius in a few years, and yes you can make some serious money.........

CDW sold a few months ago. CDW buy-out

Just an FYI - In the past 10 years I've personally known 10 different people that worked there. 1 made it longer than a year and makes a nice 6 figure income. The other 9 people that don't know each other individually all say basically the same thing. You're basically a telemarketer having to make 100 calls a day. Supervisors flat say it's not about making 20 minute calls where you make a friend. Make quick calls and spew out promotions or see if the customer has an order ready to go. It's a numbers game and if you throw enough sh!t, some of it will stick.

If you're lucky and can stomach that type of sales technique you can make some great money. If you're more of a "farmer" that enjoys listening to needs and solving problems this probably isn't the job for you. A "hunter" that can push products (needed or not) and doesn't mind the cheesy salesman promotions might do well. Just be aware that CDW is always hiring and the sales department has a revolving door.

If you're looking for sales job it's a decent company with great benefits. Good luck and give it a shot!

The assumption above is made by the 60% that don't make it 6 months. I'm one of the guys that made it and yes you will make good money if the above does not apply to you. The job is not about pushing product isnt' about managing large companies IT purchasing and there is a lot to it.

Yes CDW is always hiring, and no most people don't make it for a variety of reasons. I wanted to put a gun in my mouth for the first six months, but I've been here since May of 04 and I'm living it up now. Average 4th year guy makes $140K. Top guys/gals on my team are above $200k. Highest guys in sales making above $600K doing the same job as I do.

CDW does good business. I spent about 500k with them in late 2005, early 2006 alone. They didn't always have the best price, but their attention to me when I needed it was a HUGE benefit to staying with them. I am about to work with a client to spend about 2mil in IT infrastructure purchases - about 40% will be with CDW. The rest will be with Dell and Lenovo.

Your CDW rep should hook you up with a Lenovo contract as well price would be better than direct and we stock it here. I do those all the time. Just get off the Dell. We want them to go under. lol

$500K account that's our bread and butter hope you got a good rep here.

I've worked at CDW Vernon Hills last summer as a Web Editor. I can vouch for their sales numbers. Good thing I'm a contractor, because 65+ miles each way, every day sucked! but, it was only for a month.

Good company, great experience and now is the time to join them. IT sales are not going away anytime soon, and once corporations start moving off their Win2k and XP platforms, you'll be rolling!

Corporate sales ain't my thing, but CDW is as good as it gets. Great training program too.

Hey wicked..............

every phone sales biz has goals but taking care of people is the biggest priority..............number of calls is only really important in the beginning as the more people you talk to the better off you are.
I seldom talk about promotions I am to busy closing sales. :twofinger
You should check your info better........

If it is like days of yor, you start at entry level with a headset on and have to be at your desk and logged in by 8:30 am and taking x amount of inbound calls and making x amount of outbound calls - You have your 15 min break and then back to it - 1 hour for lunch and then back to it - 15 min break and then till the end of the day - If you are on a call for more than 10 mins, it is recorded and reviewed - Do this for at LEAST 12-18 months before you get moved up to bigger ticket items to sell

It is a sweat shop but you learn A LOT and it makes for a good resume

+1 on the sweat shop. (and the experience)

I got to LOS 30something before I snapped and told my manager to go fuck himself. Then I got to sit in a boardroom with the director of sales and Krasny (still CEO at the time) and explain why I told him to go fuck himself while Alan Weiss struggled to hold back the tears of laughter.

I drank champagne as they walked me out of the bldg (literally). :laughing

Get what you can out of it Whit - did great things for my industry knowledge and resume. Just don't try to bullshit the bullshitters. :nono
