Ok...so I am need of ideas of a part time job. I've been tossing around the idea of getting one for a while. The main thing I need, which will be very hard to find, is flexibility. I want to work part time, BUT if I get called in for mandatory OT for my job....I need to go in to that. I think it'll be hard to find, if at all possible...but just looking to hear some ideas.

do you have any web skills? There's ALWAYS work available for designers/programmers/ and now, google SEO experts.

if not, check craigslist. Lots of good opportunities (outside of the 'ahem' adults ones). Just do background checks on potential companies.

good luck!

Do you like the elderly? Kids? Oftentimes, babysitting works best (for kids OR the elderly)

It pays well, since so few people want to do these sorts of things. Ask your friends and friends of friends. That might turn up some leads.

Housesitting is good too. with your backround that might work for you as well.

I can't be the only one thinking about the definition of 'flexible'.... :evil
No... you were not the only one... but I was trying to be nice. :1pimp

(anytime now until Monday morning) :laughing

If bodily functions don't gross you out, people will pay a handsome sum to have someone look after their mom or dad and give themselves a break for a change.. Lots of people taking care of their elder folks these days...

House/dog sitting is a great part time, side gig. I do it for friends of mine and they pay well! Like $200 for 1 1/2 wks. I live in thier pimp crib and basically get paid to live and work my normal job, etc. Look into it. I'm lookin for some more pet/house sitting!

I could totally use someone to do this for us when we go on trips. I don't like bording my golden and someone has to feed the cat. Plus knowing the house has an officer living in it would let me rest easy on vacation.

There ya go Jen, start your own house sitting business.

alot of goverment jobs allow flex-time and part time hours too,
You may have to pass a drug test and 15 year FBI background check (depends on the job)

Sears or Block buster should be able to accomodate you.

I would also try monster.com

sologig.com

techsystems.com

good luck.

be a waitress or bartender, those jobs you can always find someone to cover for ya if you have to work ot and you make tips that means, no taxes... well just a little, but just a fast easy way to make a few bucks. Have Smoking John hook you up at Heros.
+1 Ive been doing it for awhile and as a part time gig its great money. Its not that easy to find someone to pick up for you but it can be done if you got good people you work with!

How much notice would you be able to give if you could not work the pre-determined hours? You mentioned needing to be able to go work OT at your regular job. What hours are you thinking will work best day-to-day? Do you like entertaining and event planning? (I know you have some skills there but not sure if you like it.)

Let me know. We will be looking to fill a somewhat flexible position to help plan meetings and small events for our clients and us. Most of the work is done from home - or can be. Building up contacts in the meetings/events industry will be important. It's a fun job, but a thankless one at times.

As far as giving notice if I could not work....sometimes I know a week or a day before, but there's been times I get the call from work and it's, "Yeah, you're getting forced to come in for the next shift which starts in 4 hours."

I like even planning, I had a blast planning the B4B ride, and I like planning parties and get togethers etc...

As far as doing a job that's fun but thankless...Sounds like my job, I can handle that!;)

Waitressing/bartending sounds like a blast, however, I have done either.

i know this may sound a little funny...but u can also look to work as a bouncer at a joint also...the thing is, if the "CERTAIN popo" (city not named the jackasses they are)...if they dont have an acception to that rule, then i can talk to a couple of bar owners i know and see if they wouldnt mind you looking out for them on the "female side of things"...like making sure chicks not fighting, or doing bad things (drugs/sex/whatever) in the bathroom...i know alot of bar owners in the area hun...and like i sent u on myspcae...i know they would more then likely love it if they knew a cop was in the back if something got out of control and they needed somone that is truthfull instead of worrying about having goofy freaks and dipshits working the doors covering admisions, or checking i.d.'s...

let me know hun...they are all around this area u work at...
