Are there any website or anywhere in general where I can say what I am going to do on a computer and it gives me a bunch of recommendations?

and what about off brands do they suck or is it all about what is inside the thing.

Anything I want to definitely stay away from as far as AMD or whatever?

TIA

Yes, right here. This is geek central. :)

I am waiting for Lonely Raven to chime in.....He will build you a system that will power 7 3rd world countries with still room left over to overclock :)
For regular old home use a good old Dell is pretty hard to beat. AMD processors are great by the way.

I love my iMac and Mac in general - This thing is rock solid and wicked fast and does all I need (which is about the same as your list) and more - So easy to use and care free to boot - Not to mention the remote control so I can do all the nedia while watching the 20 inch monitor from bed - Dig it the most I do

Whoops, just saw you want a laptop - The Mac Books are sweet too
