95 F3 as a track bike

Well boyz...I have an opportunity to purchase my old 95 F3 and make it into a track bitch.

WHat are some of the techincal pros and cons of the F3 for this duty? I looked around and there seems to be some good aftermarket racing support for the F3. Better than the F4.

Here she is precrash...

. Keep the cam chain in adjustment and change the oil and they last forever (rectifier is same POS as all mid-90's hondas and sucks too)

they're great bikes....only downside I'd see is if you ever decide to do some club racing your smack in the middle of Middle Weight SuperStupid grid along with the other 55 loonies.

Price is key too, there are a ton of already race preped F2/3's around for $2000-3500.... What does it need to be track ready?

Well that depends...right now it's jetted and that's about it. I really don't think I'd put much into it except maybe some new skins.

Depending on what I part it out for....I will spend what's left over on upgrades. 208s....Penske rear....Drucker forks....That's about it.

I really don't feel comfortable buying a race-prepped bike. Especially from a stranger. Who knows what's been done to it or if it even has a clear title.

BTW...how does insurance work on a track bike. This one will not be street legal.

So new skins= $450(plus paint...Krylon???)
Forks $400
Penske $650
208Gp's $325
Rearsets $150 (NEEDED on the F-tanks)

Buying a racepreped bike is easier I think. You DON'T know whats been done to it so you ASSUME its had the SHIT beaten out of it and you take precautionary measure accordingly. You don't KNOW the real history of ANY used bike (street or track) so there isn't much difference IMHO. Plus its wired/setup and DONE. Every motorcycle has a title (other than specific racers Tz125/250/RS125/250 or racing framed bike(non-numbered frames direct from HRC/YEC...ect) in which case you'd wanna see the manufacturers certificate of origin. So if the seller doen't have a title(Clean/Rebuilt/Salvage) or an MCO THEN i'd be worried.

State Farm will not cover my racebike in any way (not even fire/theft....) though if its stolen out of my garage it could be claimed unde the home owners insurance....

So say I (Ryan:D) buy a brand GSXR600 and race prep it with skins, front fork work, and a Penske rear....all that cash for the bike itself as well as the mods is not covered under insurance. I could somewhat see noncoverage for a track crash, but what if someone swipes it?
It doesnt matter if any bike on the track has insurance. If your gonna be on the track with a bike and you ball it up, then you shouldnt be claiming it anyways. Insurance is for accidents, not screw ups on the track. I would think someone would sell you just a theft policy or something for it.
I'm not expecting crash insurance for a track bike...just fire and theft.
As far as the owning outright comment...mine is paid for and so would be the track bike....but I would still want insurance for both. It's not about saving a little money on premiums...it's about protecting your assets; even if they are depreciating.

Back to track bike talk.....
Because insurance people are smart, and they know that its a race bike, and that when he wreks it bad enough, being the shaddy racer he is, he will throw it in a lake, or burn the shead down that he keeps it in and get his claim.

I am just so sad cause that's the only other one of my baby I have seen and you guys are talking about her like she is some kind of two bit whore :( Oh well, asleast she'll get to die a wonderful death, on the track :twofinger

Stupid question, why do you need new skins, why not just use the stock stuff, he doesn't need the oil catcher thing, he is just doing track days? I'll give ya 100 bucks for all the old stuff, I'll be in town over the forth.

Nick
Good to see you still on the site Nick...

Shaddy racer? :twofinger

I plan to sell everything I do not need for racing...either Ebay or someone like you who still likes purple and neon yellow :D
They'll be priced a little higher than $100 though ;)

I don't have it yet, but hope to soon. I've been on vacation and haven't had a chance to go look at it.

She's still my baby...although now she's been laid down. She will be well taken care of...don't worry. :rofl
