Be careful if you're riding in Naperville. Several streets are being resurfaced. This creates several hazards for motorcycles.

Hazard 1: Some streets the cracks are being sealed with new tar strips, lots of them. These are slippery to the bike, sticky to your feet, slippery on the footpegs, and flings tar, sand, oil, etc. onto your bike.

Hazard 2: Some streets are being ground down to grooves before resurfacing and exposing manhole covers.

Hazard 3: Some streets are using a technique that leaves a lot of very fine slag on the road surface. This causes a problem by getting in your eyes. Even more of a hazard is that the slag is thick in spots and extremely slippery. Also, it's very hard to see at night.

This situation is further compounded by the cold weather already reducing traction.

Be careful and stay alert!
