Caution and Clarification

Just so nobody gets the wrong idea...

A few of us have been engaging in a certain amount of ball-busting with regard to "beating" each other on the track. I just don't want this to be misconstrued by the group as a whole, or others who may not be "regulars" on the BBS.

Track Days are not Races. There are no points or prizes awarded. Track Days are opportunities for both racers and street riders to practice and improve their skills in a CONTROLLED ENVIRONMENT.

Racing is... RACING. Competition with yourself and others. Being better than you or the other guy were yesterday. There are no "control riders" to show you what to do, when to do it or otherwise keep you from getting in over your head.

There is a big risk of getting hurt when the two concepts are confused.

Ahh...the dreaded, "Testicular Event!" Yes there has been a lot of banter going round, and it's all in jest (mostly) The, "I'm gonna getcha, SUCKA!" attitude is more smoke than fire.

Basicaly, we've ridden together for a while both on and off the track, and we are familiar with each others riding styles. When I'm on the track, I am concentrating on myself, the track and where I'm going, not to who I am passing. Sure it's a hell of a lot of fun to come out of a corner and try to pass a friend down the straight, but there's never the attitude of, "I have got to pass him/her now, OR ELSE!" An attitude that I haven't seen displayed by the members here.

This was why I was surprised when I came off my 1-on-1 and people were commenting on me passing people like mad. Honestly, I can only remember passing like 3 people. I was too involved in what I was doing at the time.

Most of us here know it's not a race and keep it that way. We enjoy it and push ourselves and our friends, then we can all have something to BS about. It makes it that much more fun.

Lupi

Targets are still locked on! MUAHAHAHAHA
Damn all this track talk this week and no track to go get on.:mad

What, we don't BS enough here? :bs

If anybody was at the track day, none of this 'Have to pass this rider' talk was going on (at least with the 'B' group). Seems to have sprung up on the board. I just think you are all to chicken to do it in person :evil

My goal at the end of the next track days, NOT get lapped by Anna :p I still anticipate getting lapped by everybody else.

The whole 'track' thing took me by surprise. What, I can use the WHOLE road? And where's the killer cages at? No real road hazards? No Department of Transporation guys playing tick-tac-toe with the tar strips?

I want to get more into the 'theory' of line picking. Not so much following the CR in front of you as WHY we are going where we are. WHY that line is best and HOW to pick them. Would come in handy on the other tracks, which I plan on hitting next season.

Ahh, track talk is on EVERY thread..

:eek:t :eek:t :eek:t
BUY MY CUBS TICKETS! I may be willing to negociate the price. I don't want to eat all four tickets.

Chris
None of it happend at the track, and it probably never will. I think when we are all there, we put on our game faces and are all ready to get down to business. BS about I'm gonna lap you 5x isn't there at the track because it's not a focal point. I just wanna have fun and get a lot better/faster!

PS:
Challenge who can lap Chris the most? BWAHAHAHAHA:evil :jester :twofinger

So this is what it's like to have brothers, huh?
:twofinger :twofinger
Damn, of course I can't find the link. Jack took a pic of a chimpmunk while @ BHF. It's on his site somewhere(Jack can you post it so they don't think I'm totally nuts!) Anywho, you made a comment about John being your mascot/pit crew or something like that. So all I could think of wasn the pic I had just seen.

Brothers? EH it has pros and cons. Con is when you run up his big ass in a turn cuz he hit a false neutral.:mad

Pro's is having someone there who you can retell the same stories for weeks, and they don't get as annoyed as everyone else does. LOL Now, either he's actuallly sleeping in the car this week. Or he is doing it to get me to shut up!

<-----can be long winded when excited (DONT GO THERE!!!!)

somebody correct me if i'm wrong .. but the fastest line thru the corners is the straightest line. this may be altered for a series of corners, but that's always been my take on it .. that's why you go outside-inside-outside .. it makes you have to turn less, which allows you to increase your speed.
your correct. Though the "ideal" line is also usually also subject to track conditions/pavement variations(think turn3&[email protected])...ect For a series of turns you want your exit to set your up for the entrance to the next turn...(very important at Grattan with the turn 3/4 combo + the esses.)
Kim and the others are right. Its not a race and all our ranting here is just havin fun. Hell if ya cant be on the bike might as well talk about being on the bike. :D

As far as the brother thing, we'll I'm stuck with Lupi and that will never change. We've talked b4 about how we would always like to beat the other, but neither of us would risk anything to do it. Its agreed egos stay at the paddock as I think most people seem to have the same philosophy.

P.S. Its easy to say the above since I am always in front or about to pass him anyway:twofinger

O and Kim, you could be our adopted track sister if you really want too.

And whats this about a chipmonk I'm lost again.

Ok, you have, let me see, 5 days of track time or better? And this was my second! Do the math. LOL

Um, you are always in front of me bacause I'm setting you up for the pass, and you are always behind me dreaming about passing. Only session you were even close to me was when I decided to have a chat with the Corner worker for a few.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

No, you're nutty as a squirel turd!

:laughing :twofinger

But maybe your mascot should be the turkey or turklets in my yard the day before.

Or maybe Stewartt Little's cousin in turn 1

Yeah, I guess the little chippes are the cutest. But they do make a mess when you run them over in turn 5.:laughing

Talking about doing the math. Wana take a stab at how many times you passed me vs how many times I passed you.

Didn't think so.:D

Just a couple dozen I think.

RA: Something like 3/2 me pass/you pass
BHF: 0/1 me/you

And how many of those were CRAP? And considering you have what, 250% more track time than I do, I'd hope you would be passing me more than that. But you're not.

LOL,

Your welcome Lupi!
Hey, the reason you got that session mostly one on one was that we led out, and no one lined up near you could go that pace for long. You were doing really well out there!
Go to sliderphoto.com Jack got some really nice pics of you (and 1 or 2 of me with you )

hehe this is getting good. but your numbers are a bit wrong. RA you got a C.R.A.P. pass and I got you in the front so it was more like 1-1 but admittedly, you were cornering better than me and would have probably passed more if you could pass outside of the front straight.

At BHF I got you once witha late brake into 1 no C.R.A.P. passes Besides Outside of the 1st 2 sessions where you lined up behind me, you went to the "Fast" lane which gave you almost a half lap head start.

P.S. this is all in fun if anyone thinks we were out there to get each other. We were ralley out to get Kim.:D

One of the fringe benifits of having my brother on the board, all the smack talk. OMG you should have heard us in the car last night on the way home from work. All up until he took another nap again. Bastid!:twofinger

Ciao,
Lupi

PS.
And yeah, I've got Kim in the range finder.
Champ I like the avatar better btw!
