Droping off my girlfriend on the nothside, got off the bike to talk for a while w/ my GF, 3 black males pull up in a caddy, ask for direction, I walk up to the car, the guy in the back seat opens the door, gets out shows me a silver 9mm asks for the keys, and the front passesnger of the caddy jumps on my bike and they all take off.

A guy was following them since they looked suspecious to him, got their plates and called the cops, but it was all too late, they were long gone.

I just got the bike, 2nd time out, didn't even have insurance yet.

Ok here is the full DETAILED story.

We (Me and my GF) dropped of her car to a shop, on the south side (where I live), and I had to drive her home (north side). Being a beutiful evening I took the bike. After arguing w/ her for 20 mins to put on her helmet we took off.
Got to her house, parked the bike, got off of it, took off the armor and helmet, she took off her's. Shes like come in for a while, bla bla bla, I'm like nah I gotta get up early in the morning for work. She's like "then turn off the bike and lets just talk for a while." So I turned off the bike, left the keys in the ignition, stepped back onto her sidewalk, and a car approches. Guy asks for directions, while holding up a piece of paper, and reading off of it I'm on the sidewalk by her house, the bike is parked on the street in front of her house ( 3 feet away from the Caddy) The guy is asking for directions, I can hardly hear him, so I walk up to the car, he proceeds to ask "what street is this?" I'm like "Berenice", him "Where is 5433(or some #, I don't remember) then he opens his door, Im thinking (What the hell is he doin) Then the rear door swings open, I back up a little, the guy from the the back steps out, is holding a silver 9mm, next to his stomach pointed at me, ask " Yo, where them keys at to that bike" I look at the pistol for good 1.5-2 secs to make sure its real, he asks again w. a higher tone of voice "YO! where them keys at" I back up, look at my girl to see where shes at, shes still on the side wald a good 10 feet away, I say somwthign like "Awww man, WTF, come man dont do this...", He ask again "Gimee them keys.." I point to the bike, and say "Their in the ignintion." The guy w/ the gun says "Ait back up man", "Back up!". Me and my GF back up towards the side of her house, shes sayin "Please you don't have to do this, please, come on". The front passesnger, which originally asked for direction jumps on the bike and takes off, the guy from the back (W/ the gun) jumps in the front passenger seat, and the caddy speeds off.

This is how I remember it, like I said I was in TOTAL shock, so all of the "quotes" might not be exact. But thats how the quotes keep sounding in my head when I replay this episode.

so any word from the police yet since this weekend?

what's the VIN on your bike? maybe you'll get lucky and they'll do something really stupid like try to sell it locally instead of parting it out and one of the other riders here might see it...

Ths cops found my bike !!!!!!!!!

Today after work, I went upstairs to grab food, and wach some TV, I come back downstairs at like 9 or 10 and there is a new message on my answer machine.

"Hi, Im looking for Daniel, this is the Chicago Police Department, they found your bike, its at the 19th presinct, please call blablabla"

So I call, officer tells me to come down right away, they have my bike, and the offender. I ask what condition my bike is in, he says its fine. At this point I can not belive it, so me and my GF jump in the car and go to the presinct, a detective talked to us, asked if we would be able to ID the offender, unfortunatly me and my GF can't remember the face even if our lives dependet on it. So he hands me the keys, I sign a paper, and I got court date in a week. Bike seems fine, closer inspection is to follw tomorrow in daylight. I can already see that the cluch is picking up a little too high, but even the tires are not bold, it AMAZING!
The officer said they were doin a routine patrol of the local projects (what a surprise ) and saw a guy on a bike which they had never seen B4, on top of that the bike had no plates (they had taken off my plates) and upon talking to him, he was giving contadicting stories as to who the bike belongs to, so they ran the vin, and BINGO!!! (Vehicle reported Stolen) The cop was real cool, said he drove my bike down to the precinct, told me there might be something wrong w/ it cuz it seems kinda slow off the start , said he has a Harley 1200 and its amazingly quicker, and that he's buddy has a F2, and its way faster. So that got me worried, but upon riding home, I see nothing wrong w/ the bike, other than the cluch.

Anyways , sorry for the long ass post, but I'm wired and you can understand why.

I wanna thank EVERYONE for treating me like a brother in this big familly that we are.

Thanks guys for the moral support, and the suggestions.

BTW, guess what I am doing tomorrow?.........getting insurance

Thanks again

glad you got her back.

too bad the clutch is fried. Does it slip at WOT or anything? The guy probably was doing 2nd gear clutch wheelies and launching repeatedly from stop signs at 8k RPM or higher. I think new clutch plates are like $120 in parts and probably plus oil.

Thanks guys.

No it does'nt slip @ WOT, I think an adjustmnet will due fine for now.

Undoubtedly I was very lucky, I am getting insurance asap. That is my question, who insures your bike in Chicago Land area.

State Farm won't insure me cuz I don't have a car insured w/ them, Progressive told me $2200:nono a year. So I gota keep shopping. All I can think off is Allstate, Farmers, American Fam, and Nationwide.

Glad you got your bike back :D . I asked my American Family agent (have truck insured through them) about just getting liability on my bike and he just told me I'm better off going somewhere else because it's gonna be really expensive. I currently have my bike insured from 1001 insurance group or something like that, that's the name of the broker don't know what insurance company it is, they're on Archer and Newland across from Taco Bell.

I am glad to hear that you got your bike back! What part of Chicago did it Happen? (STREET NAMES) I grew up on the south side and am curious. As far as insurance goes. If you have a car insure it with State Farm because it is only costing me $160 dollars a month for car/bike/renters. The lady really helped me out. :) I am only 23 but have a great driving record and have been riding for years. If anyone has any better insurance options please email me I am always looking to save some $$$$$$!!!!!

I just got an insurance quote from State Farm and it's only $43.00 a month more than what i'm paying now for full cover on the bike. I currently have 2 cars and house with them.
