Someone calling themselves Deepthroat mailed me some tapes from a trackday at Grattan attended by several CLSB members last June.

lol - there is enough on this tape to embarass pretty much everyone (myself included). Don't worry - I'll post more later

I put Ken's 1st cause he's the only one Billy's friend caught running off on tape :)

By the way - I'm gonna say it now, NO CAMERAS when the 125 takes her maiden voyage w/me :jester

and i think i ran off 2 times that day....once i was duking it out with jeff, and forgot which way the turn went..then i went off by myself PRETTY FUCKEN DEEP...it was i think maybe like turn 6 or something?...you can almost see the whole turns by the end of the parking lot.

well i am gonna download it now.

ill try to see where its at.

and again...steve please make me a copy brotha:D

That looks like the sweeper between the bowl and the hairpin, nice bump out of the bowl to lighten your frontend and loads of bumps through sweeper. I suck at the sweeper big time.

actually...i blew the turn before, and when i had to yank it over i was on the inside so much..i would have ran right threw that sand pile...and i said SCREW that....so it was either low side in the sand, recorrect myself, which i didnt feel i had enough room, or run off...but the tape doeasnt show it..but man i ran deep and down in the grass...held it up all threw it and had 1 hell of a time pushing it out will it was level so i could ride it out.

but yeah i remember that...and man i though by the way you guys made it sound..it was like the whole footage of me:laughing

either way....that track was awesome!!!!
just a freaking job and a 1/2 with the 9r!
and i blew the turn before and was set up all wrong:(
what can i say i suck:D

No way. we got to put one of the little cameras in the front fairing and under the tail so we can see you blowing by all those slow liter bikes just like the other GP pros. :rofl

Maybe it will be the other way around. :laughing

Better yet, what about full telemetry? Then we can graphically watch the smooth as silk application of power and brakes. :rolleyes

You know, I just realized that you probably have a couple of winners of me on that tape too. I think I'll stop while I'm behind, which is my natural place in the order of things.:twofinger

How the f did you forget which way the turn went after bombing around all morning? There are only 11 or 12 depending on how you count them. And they are all wide open and easy to see from miles away... ;)

Must have been that crud I had playing on the notebook at lunch that distracted you. :twofinger

BTW, it looks like #5 to me too. Braking after that bump messed me up a couple of times too. Scared me good once. Maybe #2, but I don't think so.

I think that vid was of T-7 (last righthander before the bowl), at least thats what my brother said (he was on the 900RR following Ken).

lets see go flying over that hill right before 5, turn right then i think it went a touch left, then bank right (thats where i messed up) then that turn goes alittle uphill and then down and left, into that bowl?...you call it, where you gotta hit that patch of re-asphalt for a decent line.

well anyway, YES all those turns are plain view...i just messed up...i blew the entry and exit out of 5 and wound up somehow i think on the inside to much...then i would have to flick it over to take it THREW the sand pile to make that corner...i saw i messed up, and i KNEW it was gonna low side it in that sand with the amount of flicking it over and running threw that sand...SO i choose not to.

what can i say, i messed up...i blew a turn.


another turn i messed up that day on...is right at turn 2....right before you gotta turn in before seeing the corner, well it snuck up fast on me..and i went off the track again....i could have swear that guy sitting on the lawn got video of that.



but where you see me going off, behind steve i think it is...that WAS later in the day...and i was getting use to where the corners were ...but i DIDNT spend enough time finding turn in point set break points, etc...i was just out there having fun.

i forgot what i was doing when i borrowed kruz;s lap timer...but if i remember right?
i was running 1:34?

i wonder if that thread is around somewhere...dont know if thats fast or not..but i know i was doing decent after a long day of ass puckering and being a slow poke...but i had a blast...and thanks again steve for doing all that hard work man

so like i said i suck:thumbsup :cheers

I was really making a joke about all the turns being highly visible. That track has more blind turns and is more technical than any other I have been on. Let's see:

Can't see through #1, but it's wide open with lots of grip and a good run off.
Can't see through 2 either.
Forget about seeing any of 3 till you are already cranked over and there is only a couple of feet of good on camber line. I'm always saying to myself that I'm too slow in there, once I get into it, but hitting the blind entrance on the numbers is everything.
4 is ok and just throttle control.
5, not till you are over the hump and you better be already set up. I've had more Oh shits at 5 than anywhere else.
6&7 flow from 5 with reasonable visibility and means that an Oh Shit in 5 messes them up.
bowel 8 good look
Sweeper 9 fair, but the mid point is blind so just aim for the guard rail till you can see the mid turn.
10 fair and I always brake too hard and early for it trying to be smooth.
11 not real good till you get over the little dip past the 10a kink.
12 ok, just look for the white dot, roll on the gas and don't drift too far to the right.

Repeat as necessary. Hmmm, now that I wrote it down it sounds easy. Why the f am I so slow? :(

Now I got the Jones and want to go back. It's going to be a long winter. :twofinger
