Group leader nominations

Ok I'm starting a new designation. Most of you have been on numerous group rides and had some really good experiences with leaders and some bad one with leaders. I have seen some problems on some rides lately and want to nip that in the bud before we have someone go down hard out there.

What I am looking to do is Start a group of riders who will be considered Group leaders. It will sday so under thier user name and it will say so on thier bikes with some stickers I'm going to have made up. These peolpe will be in-charge of leading the rides out there. And thier authority will be respected out there, if someones getting to nuts and endangering everyones safty, the leader will be kicking that person out of that ride. No questions asked.

My goal here is the safety and fun of all our members. And the rides are getting much bigger with new people joiniong all the time who may or maay not be as experienced as the next guy. We need to find the average ability level of the group and keep the ride close to the average of that level.

What I need form you guys now is nominations for the people you think can lead the best out there. Remeber leadership is not only knowing the route, but also keeping a steady pace (wether fast or slow) and also not being afraid to be a hard ass if nessecary.

I would like all of you to nominate a max of 2 people and send them to my PM box only. This will be blind until I get all the nominations and put up a pole for everyone to vote on.

I would like to get these in as soon as possible but I am going to set up a deadline of next wednseday the 26th. But I would really like to ge it done sooner, So lets see if we can get them all in fast.

Thanks guys, It's all of you who make this sight what it is, so I want all of you to be involved in picking the group leaders.

(please no names posted in public, this is not a populartiy contest.)

***edit***
Ken, Fred and I are excluded from this process. We are all experienced leaders, but every other member, mods included are eligable to be nominated. I want some fesh blood at the front of the pack

Ok I've got 13 nominations in so far, keep em coming guys.
Bump for the oldest thread :)
Lol
So who got, "The Stickers" ?????
As many ideas around here do, this one died on the vine due to lack of participation
Jrock does a pretty damn good job. I hate leading group rides. Pain in the ass.

YGPM Tony.
It is a good idea, though. Do we have a list of "generally accepted" rules for group rides? Maybe a "cheat sheet" for ride leaders and participants? I have a couple that I have used as guidance, but it's a mish-mosh of stuff from various folks over the years.
JRock gets my vote. So Mr. Biggy, why was this brought up??

I just wanted to see what the last thread was in the forum. I did and thought I would share.

Also makes me wonder how many people read the post and responded without checking the date and the fact that this thread was brought back for fun :)

Rule#3 No douchebaggery

(man I love that word)
wow this thread is old.....

wow great, i didnt even look at the damn date on this thread, tonys gonna be like wtf is he giving me two names for?

That rule would be sort of like the marijuana law. You can do it, but don't do it around people where you can get caught.

Rule #4 - Newbies buy the first round of drinks for their first group ride.

Got me lol. My votes, and not in any specific order:

Cheyenne
WSE
Maynard

Haven't ridden with WSE in awhile, but i loved his night rides. I've heard good things abot Justin, just never been able to make it to any of his rides.

Sooooo, anyone from the DT crew care to nominate mwah?
read the date, and also read what tony said. don't mention names.

also too who knows if this is still going on or not.

but personally NO MATTER who you ride with, if you don't like whats going on new or not. leave the ride. safety is above all a concern while trying to have fun no matter what the speeds are.

not to mention ABOVE all ride your own ride!
