Wow, seemed like I was gone forever. I didn't remember the place being such a dirt hole. It was hot, but we did have a little breeze that helped stir up dirt. The facilities for spectators SUCK! Barely better than Blackhawk.

I was even more impressed than usual by the AMA guys. In-fucking-credible! I was up close and personal in two of the tightest corners and to see these guys come down from triple digits sliding their bikes in and being right on the edge is simply, simply, unbelievable.

Rode the track with NESBA yesterday. It's a nice track, mostly flat, but a few of the corners are banked. Turn 1 is fargin nuts, yes, you can take it 6th gear wide full open. Each time through I picked it up a little more and still seemed like I was falling over mid corner with the corner asking for more. If my skirt wouldn't have kept blowing over my eyes I would have tried it WFO in 6th--yeah I suck.

Spent the rest of the corners letting the frick'n tar patches dictate my lines. Big fargin patches, parellel to the line. Man, I can get that shit on the street, I paid for this???:confused Never got a good rhythm or a good feel for the track but only did 2 sessions on the RC and one on a racer-buddies R6. The R6 was a lot of fun, but definitely need to ring it's neck to keep in the meat of the power curve.

cool Jack .. hey .. if you happen to think about it next time you are at some AMA races, hook me up with an eboz and anthony gobert autographs :D

is gobert still alive? is he injured or something?
Broken wrist I think. :(

Yeah, got a few graphs this past weekend while I was waiting for the Michellin guy to mount my tires. Eric wasn't signing. Hmmm??? What's up with that? I did get a smoke'n photo of him doing a wheelie though, I'll have to post that sometime this week. Got some good photos.

I'm probably done doing AMA for this year. I go more for fun than anything. I love to watch how the guys ride, I love how their bikes, leathers, and helmets look in photos, but I'd rather be shooting friends.

It would be great to get some pics from Mid Ohio this year, I'm still looking for that elbow shot, but I've got something else going on that weekend. VIR is a possibility, but I doubt it. Laguna is just a wet dream....
I Tivo'd the 600 series (forgot the Superbike :mad ) That last lap was incredible. Three lead changes in the last lap. :D I really thought Tommy Hayden would win, but got beat in the second to last corner and couldn't pass again. Nailbiting finish :p
I still have it on TIVO..

I noticed those tar patches during the warm up laps. Holy shit, as bad as the roads out by me. My corporate parkway just got some fresh tar strips on it :mad

Did you get any good pics for me to buy? Are all your RA pics available for purchase?

You can probably see my fat ass in turn 3 taking pics. :)

I sent you a PM
Yeah caught the races today on Speed. AWSOME. Sounds like you got some good shots Jack.
Jack, what did you think of the speed that Kurtis was holding through turn 1? The gap he was pulling on Nicky at the start of the race was incredible.

Gobert has a broken leg, he slid under the airfence at Road Atlanta. He is trying to make it back for both the AMA/WSBK at Laguna. If whomever asked was serious about the autographs Gobert is pretty accomodating, PM me and I will see what I can do at Laguna.

Two other things...did anyone catch the lapper that passed Nicky back? Nicky lapped Robert Christman (#971?) near the end of the race and RC passed him right back...too funny.

Also, Jessica Zalusky was in the 600cc and Pro Thunder race and she didn't get lapped in either. Good job!!!

I watched a practice in turn 1, you got to, it's so cool them flying through there. But I didn't take any shots and it wasn't Superbike. Yeah, Kurtis, I wish he could have got on the podium, but it's damn cool to see Chandler up there!!!

What impressed me were the bastards coming into turn 3. OMG! Kurtis and Bostrom I swear were pushing the front and back as they slammed it in there-- incredible! Zemke had a HUGE frick'n hop and slide coming in once. He's a really cool guy too. Nicky rolling stoppied it into the bus stop once--just awesome. I'm starting to hate these guys! :laughing :twofinger

I just finished sorting my track day photos so I'm going to start sorting RA photos (finally) and my Brainerd shots.

must be honda guy, yes he was pulling on nickey but they where both holding up bostrom, watch it again, you'll see bostrom standing it up at least 3 times. :helmet :helmet

A guy pulls out 100 feet in one corner at that level and that is huge.

Both holding up Bostrom in the first few laps...sure, whatever. Does the TV give you a good sense of the different brake markers the riders are using? Turn in points? I think sliding both the front and back end through a WFO turn is more impressive than lifting the rear under braking.

Saw it live, saw it on TV...to each their own.
yeah I saw the "pass" on TV, and that's how they broadcasted it, but I'm not sure what it was. When I saw it I was more inclined to think that the guy came back over on Nicky and took his line away and Nicky backed off a little. It was one of the fast corners, I think turn 2, maybe 1. It just doesn't make sense that Nicky could get in under him and then get repassed.

Bottom line is the guy was a lap down and probably shouldn't have been racing with Nicky. But as a lapper it must be hard to know who the hell you're racing with.

Anyway, there's a lot of controversy between the factory riders and the lappers, backmarkers, and every other durogatory term people use for the non-factory sponsored riders. For the most part, these guys don't have a chance and they run a separate race. And since their equipment wont let them keep the pace they end up "getting in the way."

I can understand to some extent, I saw Yates get pinched coming out of three this last weekend and I could understand his frustration. But I guess that's racing, and it would be pretty boring watching a Superbike race with 10 racers.

Yes he was pretty cocky after the races saying he wouldn't settle for anything less than a win at Laguna. I hope he does well, he's incredible to watch.
Jack...that is really more of what happened, but the re-pass was funny to see. Can't blame Christman(?) he was just doing his best. I wonder what Nicky was thinking when it happened? Zemke is a hell of a talent, seems like he has more than enough confidence to run up front now

Jim, don't misinterpret my post...I am in no way dissing Eric Bostrom's exceptional ride/talent/skills. I just thought that what Kurtis was doing after being off a bike since April was incredible. EB is as talented or more than any of the AMA guys...no argument from me there. I have mixed feelings about the Kawi platform and support program, but I don't think the bike is nearly the ancient slug people make it out to be.

I can't wait to see EB and Nicky at Laguna...although I think if you're going to take on Bayliss, you better pack a big lunch.

Im not rooting for him because he is on a kawi, its just my opinion he is the best rider in the ama. give him an equal bike to the hondas and i think he would be doing what baylis is doing in WSB. and yes this is just my opinion!:cheers
