well ive already got a few pieces to the puzzel for my R6. have a jet kit by ivans. galfer brake lines. looking to purchase a ign adv and looking for a full system to complete it. evo does cost alot. but looking for performance than sound. want to eventually turn this bike for track one day.

my 2cents....

If you plan for the bike to be your track/race bike in the future. I would suggest avoiding spending $1000 on the Akra and spend under $500 for a full Hindle system. About equal in performance...but for the same cost your could have 2 Hindles....Or one Hindle and several trackdays....Or $500 gets you LOTS of dyno tuning...OR $500 gets you your forks redone (racetech valves/springs)....OR $500 gets you several drums of race gas...

Akra pipes are WAYYYYY overpriced IMHO Sure they look nice....but your not building a SHOW bike are you?

:helmet
Just what Mark said. I had a full Hindle Titanium until I lowsided at the track. I now have a Hindle Aluminum (they crash better)High mount. The power gains are comparable to Akra, but half the price.

If you decide to go w/ Hindle, you can get them for a good price from Matt Drucker at www.mdracingstp.com

Also, I have my ignition advanced +4. You can get the fixed +4 from Factory for 20% off if you belong to www.R6messagenet.com If you don't want to go through the hassle of signing up, just tell them your screen name is Doc :D

If you need any help w/ any of the installation, let me know.

Yeah, I am working on the leaning part...you just worry about keeping your line and not letting anyone spook ya;) :laughing :twofinger

Yeah, they do make a carbon fiber can, but the aluminum crashes the best. Also, you can retain the passenger pegs w/ the highmount.

the funny thing .. all day sunday at BHF after you crashed, i was paranoid as hell going into turn 7 .. i was staying way wide cause i was spooked by what happened to you :( i thought my can was gonna hit every time.
:eek:t Well, the first time back in the saddle was at Grattan and I did 2 full laps before I came off to clear my head. I thought I'd lost my nerve. I took a long break and I was back out there. However, I didn't come close to going as fast into 1, back straight, the essess, and 10a/b as I did back in May.

hey michael they have one for the r6 and i don't know if you'll get the best performance from the hindle ivan states that hes use the akro and leo vinci and a couple of others i email him to find out. but from what i heard ivans for the r6 is awesome.
Dont rule out the Graves either. Thats what I am going to slap on my bike. If your looking for performance, they put out more ponies than an Akrapovic.
how much is the graves ti exhaust? on kneedraggers akro race exhaust is around 850. but also a question to the hindle owners. does the full system have a rear collector. ivan ssays on his page that this will create a flat spot around 9000 rpms i think. i checked out hindles website and they have a 4-2-1 full system. please reply. if thats true then i might get the full hindle.:D
Yep, they (Hindle) are 4-2-1 systems. I have the +4 ign. advancer w/ a dynojet stage 1.0 jet kit, different mains (forgot what size), and emulsion tube shrouds. It way different than before all the mods. Like Michael said, supposedly Hindle is suppose to be a better pipe than Akra for the R6, but who really knows?

I know DJS had Matt Drucker do a bunch of work to his R6...you might want to PM him (DJS) about what he had done. Keep the questions coming. If you want to hear it or see it. Hell, if you want to compare (test drive) R6s...let me know. Tomorrow would be a good day (during the day).

i thought the ivan's kits were not only bike specific, but exhaust specific too, aren't they?

you can't go wrong with the evo system tho.
As I understand it, Ivan's jet jits are set up for a 4-1 setup, not a 4-2-1 as most exhaust's are routed...and are designed to work with the akro full pipes.....I think the jet kits just come with new needle jets, and a bigger main jet.....at least for the R1's
ivan says that his kits will work for the stock set up. looked on the r6 site and it runs a 4-2-1. don't know about the r1 though.
Doc-

Can you tell me exactly what the +4 ign. adv. does for your R6? I'm always interested in extruding some more horsepower out of my R6.

By the way, I met you at BHF for the July 6th track day... the Bio teacher from Chicago. When do classes start for you again? I would be cool if we could compare notes about the classroom and, of course, our R6's! Thanks for the info.
Classes start in 3 weeks (Aug. 20)!!!:confused :bs I can honestly say I am not ready at all. It doesn't help things that I am leaving for a camping trip in 30 min.

Anyway, the +4 ign. advancer does just that. It advances the timing of the ignition so it sparks earlier in the rotation. It gives crisp throttle response. As a result, you get better acceleration.

I was having a problem when I would crack the throttle wide open. It seemed to pause and then take off. The ign. adv. cured that. I also got a jet kit and a full system at the same time. It really was a new bike to ride. Also, they say that an ign. adv. isn't a mod. to do by itself.

Some people are against ign. adv. saying you could ruin the engine...yada, yada, yada. Well, I think if you advanced it +8, yeah, you would do some harm. However, +4 isn't much at all. Also, you may see a difference if you run lower octane. I've never experienced this because I run Amoco Ultimate all the time, but I hear you can get some pretty bad pinging.

Anyway, let me know when you want to compare notes and R6s. I have the time, sort of, until the 19th of August (teacher's inst.).

Regarding DJS's R6 (it's for sale BTW...do not know price yet)

Drucker did not do much to it...4&6 did the most work. Drucker tried to improve upon what 4&6 did. He has the full Akro Ti exhaust with those FlowCommander thingies. I can't remember if he had the Dynojet put in. I think he has both now. He had it mapped again by Drucker and dynotuned but his power curve is still a bit bumpy. He has a big dip around 3500 that can not be smoothed (common R6 problem).

Drucker claims the Hindle performs better on the R6 than the Akro.

DOC...
Did you spraypaint those numbers on with a template? WTF is that?
His reason: he wants to race mountain bikes

My reason: he's chicken...he had a scare at RA and then I went down at BHF and Ryan went down at MAM.
Who knows what he's doing....

Ive got dibs on his steering damper...
Two mounts actually....F4i and RC51. I'll be swapping them.

He walks away from my F4i over 10k RPM. :mad

Just wait till I get my Hindle next season and have Drucker work some magic with the FI mapping. :thumbsup
and have Drucker work some magic with the FI mapping.
Been there...done that :D
